2009 xb12 rode my bike to work everything worked great, went to leave at the end of the day and could not get a neutral light and bike would not start, everything else cycles on and works, fuel pump,headlights,ect.. I put the bike in gear and bumped it back and forth a little and then back to neutral and still no light, but it started? Rode home and now it wont start at all, it has been on the battery tender, checked all fuses and all were fine! any ideas would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

I'm not sure where it is on your bike someone should chime in but once you find your neutral safety switch to make sure that us the problem just take a chunk of wire and jump the leads on the plug and try starting the bike if it starts then that switch is the problem.

Even if you can't get a neutral light it will still start if you pull the clutch in right? Thats how it should be. If not you have to trace the signal wires to both your clutch and neutral safety switch to find your issue.

thnks guys I think you are right! I read a old thread by jimijeans and tryed to start the bike with the clutch pulled inand it worked! bike started but still no neutral light! I am now going to pull the front sprocket to get to the indicator switch and test it also! What is interesting is my bike will start without the clutch pulled in? and there is no sidestand switch, but i think it is related to the neutral switch indicator! Thanks for all the help and i will post more after I work on the bike more.....

so i did not have to remove the front sprocket to get the lead off the neutral indicator switch, I jumped the lead and grounded it to the frame and the green indicator lit right up! ordering new switch and then going riding before the rain hits! Thanks Guys, you all have been such a huge help!

You know you could have pulled the switch and sprayed some brake cleaner in the ball bearing. More then likely crap from the primary worked its way into the switch.
