Have a new noise coming from the front at low rpm's - looks like it's the horn (vibrating wildly) against the plastic panel that holds the windshield. Took the panel off but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the horn. Anyone has experienced this? Anyone has any ideas? Thanks!

hmm.. pretty sure mines doing the same thing at this point.. ill have to mess with a couple things and see if it can be fixed.

just bend the bracket a little backwards en put some vibration isolation tape behind it. should fix the problem:D

vibration isolation tape - I though about something like that - is there a specific tape for that or can I use something more generic? Thanks!

loud pipes, unless you can hit the horn without even thinking about it in an emergency wich no one can its not worth having.it just distracts your thought process from speed, distance, brake, gas, clutch and finding an escape route.by the time you think horn find the button realize they didnt react to it and then think whats next youve wasted valuable time.IMO

You can use anything generic, I used some tape that usualy used to prevent draft in windows and doors.
A small piece of rubber will do aswell.[smirk]

I have a stebel horn I plan to install on my '07 ULY this winter, think I saw somewhere that it had been done with pics for behind the windscreen (might even be this site). Put one on my KLR650 a few years ago, WOW-it really gets you noticed when it counts.

Figured out what it was. The horn is attached to the headlight support bracket. This metal plate that the horn is sitting on is actually two plates together. The upper one of them cracked just under the bolt that attaches this plate (and the horn) to the support bracket. This caused the abnormal vibration of the horn and the knocking sound. The bike is on warranty so I will probably try to bring it in to have the part replaced (or at least ordered), but for now I just fixed it up with a narrow strip of good old duct tape and the sound is gone.
