Looks like my Little Ully 's life might be over. I had a low side this passed Sunday and am just finding out that the Ully didn't do well at all, might even be in worse shape than me. Really sucks, she was running great and I just bought a new set of shoes for her. The Insurance Co. will be shipping her down to a storage yard one town over from me this coming week and I will know more then, I love that bike ! I've already inquired if I can purchase it from the Ins.co should they total it, did I mention that I love that bike, I'm heart broken.

I would not let them have it before having a bike shop estimate what it would cost to fix it. Did it dent the frame?

Also post some pictures there are parts available from members on here. You could probably withdraw your claim as well to keep the bike.

I have to wait because the Ins co. hasn't even seen it yet. I don't know anything about the bike's damages as I was pretty much laid out with four broken ribs and left side broken ankle and right side slight dislocated ankle.

It happened so fast that I really don't know what exactly happened, everything was fine next thing I know is I'm all caught up in the brush. We did much tighter Twisties before this curve that looks like less than 45* degrees going slightly uphill, I could see the other riders just in front of me, I must screwed something up.

Man, that sucks. Especially when you don't even know how it happened. Could have been debris in the road. The fact that you are well enough to make this post is some good news, however.

I'll have to go there when I am able to walk and look around maybe that will jog my memory Around 7-8 other bikes went over that same area just moments before me and they were going faster than I was. I have about 6-8 weeks of time to think about it.

I love this bike and don't want to get rid of it, I can buy it back from the Ins Co. So what do the experts think, this is going to be a long project and much beer will have to be consumed ?
Update, the frame is dented left side where the puck was, can this be pulled out ?
The entire gauge cluster and gauges are gone I only have wires left hanging.
Naturally the footrests and the shift linkage are scraped up and or slightly bent.
The passenger grab rail and back rest are pretty much gone.
The left handle bar stop got slightly jammed to the stop on the frame.

Maybe I should just try and post up pictures ?

Kenny: If you can buy it back with intentions of being a parts mule for a few hundred bucks, then consider it. Otherwise, let them scrap it. You don't need the aggravation of trying to resurrect junk like that.

I know your right and I was hoping you would reply, it's just that the bike only has 17,500 miles on it and the engine is pristine. It was running so good that it makes me sick to let them dump it. Not to mention 2008+ are not easy to find at a reasonable price. There is someone selling a 2010 with low milage but he wants $20k for it. I have until Monday to make a decision about my bike.

It's funny that my relatively new headlight that cost $200 survived whatever happened to the windscreen and gauge cluster !
I'll find out later today or Monday how low the Ins Co will drop if at all.

If you are considering keeping it, it is straight forward to look at an exploded parts diagram and see what you need, with part numbers to look up and everything. I find the one on Twin Motorcycles site to be easy to use.

You won't be buying this stuff new, but most salvage sellers list by part number anyway so type "Buell" and the part number into e-bay and see how much stuff goes for to get an idea of what it will take to make it ridable and safe. Worry about pretty later.

It really depends on you NJ. If you enjoy twiddling in the garage on your bike then I'd say YES! Have some fun and resurrect the girl, looks like a cosmetic fix and, it would be a shame to scrap another Buell from one low speed-low side You'll end up with the same ride you love and a few battle scars, so you can relax and not worry if theres a next time. Chicks dig scars

If you do NOT enjoy garage time or are obsessed with expenses, then let her go to someone who will, or just walk away. Spend the insurance money of hookers and blow.

She started right up to let me know she's not ready to be torn apart. I'm pretty sure that the intake seals were going to have to be replaced soon as I noticed that the revs were coming down slow. So I'll have time to do it now while I'm waiting for various parts to come in. It will be fun, I haven't had this much to do to a bike since 1970 when I took my brand new Triumph Bonneville apart and chopped it, everyone said I was nuts back then until they saw the bike finished.

Local guy just got this from an estate sale, so I helped him out with sonic cleaning his carb yesterday and sold him one of my motorcycle lift tables to boot!
