Then of course there is, chitownengr, they must be the type of engineer that can't be told anything !

I'm thinking of moving to N.Carolina, if I see a buell on the side of the road, broke down, I think I'd be afraid to stop and help because of what you might do to me if I suggest something to help.

Take a chill pill, I'm just kidding around ! Except for the part about stopping to help, no, just kidding about that too, I'll stop, whether you want me too or not. :eagerness:

What can you tell by my handle ?

All good info guys, especially to a newb like me, keep it coming !

I can tell you like to stir up trouble!

I did apologize.
And like I said I have no idea why that response rubbed me the wrong way.

Again, Sorry.
I'm not an anal retentive know it all A-hole. I hope I didn't come across that way.
Obviously, I still have a lot to learn.

I'm over it.

Stop or not, it's all good.
I'm the guy that always stops.

You're right thought, I shouldn't make assumptions from screen names. That was wrong of me.

I try to recognize my short comings and mistakes. Sometimes I'm surprised by them. However, I always try to learn from them.

Chalk up my previous A-hole response as one of those moments.

Yeah chickn no worries mate you just had a funny five minutes i have them all the time! lol and you aint no ******* no way i should know i am an Arsehole and thats even worse!! ha ha ha :eagerness:

Appreciate that fellas.

I just feel like "that guy". Y'all know the one!

I don't have much credibility but what little I have Id like to hold on to.

So you know better than I do what I used in my primary?
Please, dictate something else I should say.

To be exact; it was screaming eagle synthetic. I hope that is formulated for a wet clutch since it was suggested, by my dealer, that I use it when I first bought my bike.

And like I stated everyone is different. Every bike is different. Not all bikes are the same and not all riding styles are the same.

Under the conditions and loads that I subject my bike to a synthetic, formulated for a wt clutch, did not do well. This was my personal experience and it was a suggestion not a statement of absolute finality.

Ugh.
Why am I wasting my time. I just noticed you go by chitownengineer. I can't tell you anything you don't know better than me anyway.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The things I post are from personal experience.
Simply suggestions.
Nothing I say is sacrament.

I guess I should have said, I DONT use synthetics in the primary.

But thanks for the info on synthetics

Chicknstripn, no offense intended. I only meant to be informative. Us engineer folk can be a bit dry at times and come off as accusatory so if I offended, my apologies. I am not a petroleum engineer so I can't comment intelligently on your experience with Screaming eagle synthetic. All I can say is that since I began using synthetic oil formulated for wet clutches I've never had the same problem. I have, however, always been a little skeptical of the Screaming Eagle brand of oil (perhaps unjustly so). Who makes it? I have no clue. I've seen a lot of Exxon Mobil refineries, but I've never seen a Screaming Eagle refinery, so I've never bought it.
Cheers

It's all good.

My apologies, sir.

I know you meant well. I just took it the wrong way.

And you're right.
Who the hell makes screaming eagle products anyway?

However, I will say, talking about specific brands of oil is opening a can of worms!
EBR claimed they never had a bearing problem. They had an oil problem. That was their claim when they got in bed with amsoil. I'm surprised I haven't seen it come up in other threads.

I stick to what I know. And I know once I started using formula plus in my transmission, I never again felt any slip issues. I probably could have switched to Mobil 1 and experienced the same improvement in clutch feel. However, I switched to formula plus and have stuck with it. So, I don't have any input on any other brands of oil for the primary.

That's why I say to go with what feels best to you.

You were absolutely right. I should not have encapsulated ALL synthetics in my statement. I should have identified exactly what oil I had a bad experience with.

Cause that's what this is all about; educating others via life experience!

Well, since we have gone on to oil. I am no engineer, just a plain old joe, but I Use different oil vicosity mixtures for different times of the year in the primary as well as the engine. All the oil I use is Mobil 1 Synthetic and I ride all year round in Texas from 30F all the way up to 110F. In the winter I use straight 20W50 V-Twin in the primary, and 50/50 mix of 20W50 and 15w50(SilverCap) in the motor. In the summer I use about 6 to 10 oz's of 75w90 gear oil and 22 to 26 oz's of 20W50 in the primary, and straight 20W50 in the motor. Why, because I like how much smoother the bike operates at the different temps, especially shifting, warming up the bike, etc...
I also do something similar with my 07 Tiger 1050, 60/40 mix of 10w40t and 15W50(Silver Cap) in the winter. 50/50 mix of 10w40t and 20w50 vtwin in the summer. Both bikes I tour 2 up loaded down, as well as commute to work, and ride to my limits on weekends when I have time. It is all about how smooth it shifts, motor runs during warmups, etc...
