When I did my exhaust this weekend I took a good look at the O2 sensor and peered in through the exhaust port before installing the new headers. There was a lot of white; the O2 sensor looked powdercoated.

I know that this can mean fuel additives, coolant problems and/or silicone of some sort in the system. My bike has never thrown a code and this is my first V-twin, so I figured this may not be abnormal and just put things back together.

That was two days ago and now I'm starting to wonder - is this anything I should be concerned about?

did yours look like the far right.

Sure did - I don't have a pic of the sensor but here's the view through the exhaust...

do you have a k&n filter or use additives in the fuel, are you the original owner?if no to the k&n and yes to 1 owner i would say that its the heat burning deposits to a bleached white.this can happen on air cooled engines try a right side scoopnullvalve depositscheck first post pics

No K&N and no additives. I'm the second owner, so I'm unsure of what was done for the first 8000kms. Thanks for the link - that's the conversation I was hoping for. [up]

After market exhaust??? Looks like your running pretty lean. Check the plugs.
