I would have to say yeah, the cluster went belly up. The odometer works off of the same VSS signal the speedometer uses.
If your interested, I have the guts from a metric cluster that I'd be willing to part with. (case is trashed, but the cluster should work. I bought the cluster to replace mine after I crashed last year but ended up just swapping my electronics into the metric case.... blah blah blah)
