well i figure i'll deal with it the next oil change, but I will probably just use the loc tite again. seems to work well enough.

And for clarification, I didn't use gobs, just enough to cover most of all the threads except the top threads. I was expecting it to leak after i poured the new oil in, but its been holding up just fine. I have done some quarter mile runs since the change so even under hard riding up to redline its still dry as a bone.

One thing to keep in mind though is how bad you stripped the plug. I was still able to screw the bolt in and out but it just wouldn't tighten. I could turn it with my fingers endlessly. After applying loc tite I cannot budge it with my fingers.

RuiP, why don't you just go to a auto-parts store and get an Over-sized Plug? They are cheap, they cut their own threads, and they are re-useable.

For an update, the dealer said my problem is covered under warranty. Luckily! Now they are just waiting to see what the recommended fix is through warranty, which is some what dependent on parts. It's either a Time Sert type fix or a new Crankcase.

Has anyone tried the oversize plug route? I may do that in the future but for now I'm not going to touch it until the next oil change.

If it happens to me, I'd probably do a plug weld, re-drill and re-tap. But I am lucky to be a machinist and have what it takes to do the job well. Clearly, that's not a solution available to everyone.

The oversize plug sounds intriguing. Never heard of them, actually. If they are self-tapping and there is still some spot face left to seat the plug and get a good seal, then I don't see why that wouldn't work.
