So today cruising home my yellow engine light came on followed shortly by red battery light :( checked the volts, was pretty solid around 11.3 drove all the way home 5 miles or
So and volts stayed the same but lights stayed on. I have upgraded to the MOSFET VR fix around 3xxx miles I'm at about 7xxx now is this the dreads stator issue :(

Wow this is a nightmare. Sorry you 1125 guys are having this problem. I feel like Rotax should be contacted to fix the damn problem. Can they still do re-calls?

There will be no recalls. NHTSA has no safety interest in this and neither does Harley Davidson.

Anyone know what to do? No warranty or anything. Should I call HD? Btw nearest servicing dealer is 2.5 hours from me. Amy other suggestions :( I should of bought the rotor from EBR a month ago.

That blows. Rewinding is an option, but not a permanent fix. Is there a reason why this keeps happening or has no one studied it enough?

From what I gathered, it's a heat related problem. The wire edm hole that EBR is/was doing adds an extra oiling port on the rotor that sprays directly on the stator. I guess the extra 20-30 degrees of cooling is enough to keep it from cooking. I think HD's fix was to drop one leg of the stator, but on a permanent magnet stator, if the motor is spinning, then it's generating electricity, dropped leg or not, thus it's generating heat.

So does anyone know of a remedy, but doesn't have the means to produce a fix?

08 stator and rotor and be done with it.

So is the 09 stator itself the problem which causes to much heat? If not how does an 08 differ from the 09 stator. Not arguing here just wanting to learn. I ride an xb, but would love an 1125 just not with this problem.

In 09 they went to a 3 phase stator and this is the one that is problematic. 09-10 were the recall years. I have been lucky with my 09, only one stator and it was under warranty, havent had a problem since the recall harness was installed. But the harness has been only a bandaid for the real problem from what I have read.

So what I'm gathering is calling a HD dealer and getting an 08 stator and rotor installed? Is this the best solution? Ugh I wish I still had my 06xb12r :(

So Glad I have an '08. The clutch weep was annoying, but happens much less often (only once in the last 27K miles) and a LOT cheaper to fix.

Get the oiling rotor from EBR and a higher rated rewind. I've mentally prepared myself to have to do this but apparently if you do the 240c degree rewind (apparently stock is rated only for 200) and then get the oiling rotor the fix is permanent. It's also cheaper than an 08 stator/rotor especially if you aren't under warranty.

Im sure you guys noticed but it looks like EBR has the low temp rotor back in stock.
I'd upgrade if i was you guys. Stators suck to replace.
