Oil, mobil 1 vtwin vs mobil1 vtwin super syn

We're not professional welder's or professional exhaust builder's but I think we did a pretty damn nice job all things considering :). 100% stainless steel, reused factory hangers, no check engine light. Can't complain. And sounds good.

Ok....sorry....back on topic...penzoil sucks ass....

Haha sorry I got you all bum hurt about my past experiences and opinions.
But here's another opinion that actually may come close to your actual question I say opinion cause i dont know the real answer but I would say that the super syn has different or more additives in it and if it talks about big displacement twins. Maybe they cater more for those types of motors like yours. And if the other one doesn't mention anything like that I personally would go for the more your bike specific oil.
Aaaand I have a 2011 5.7. Could I do that as well to read codes?

John, my bum is just fine :D

In seriousness though, why don't you explain what all these "bad" additives are that the "other" oil manufacturers are using?

You can do whatever you want, it's your truck. I'm not one to "brag" about how "fast" my 5000lb quad cab truck is, but I'd like to put my 287cid ram up to a race against your "hemi" ;)

And FWIW, I'll be using amsoil for a long while in my buell just because I bought cases of it. But I'll have no problem going to mobil one, harley(screaming eagle?), or wtf other brand there is as long as it does the job. For fucks' sake the owner's manual even says diesel or vegetable oil ore some shit is OK in a pinch in our engines ;).

John you should be able to yes, it takes a few times of doing it to figure it out and get it to work. I in fact work at Exhaust Pros and I love the magna flows :D.. Flow Master, Magna Flow, Glass Packs, Aero-Turbine all good stuff and oh yea straight pipes :)

I still didn't get a direct answer if the supersyn is the same as the original or if its totally different oil
According the vague description on the 1/2 empty jug of Mobil1 0w40 "SuperSyn" out in my garage, it's some sort of "anti wear system" they blend in with their regular synthetic to resist "...breaking down under extreme stress at high-temperature...". That doesn't particularly impress me. Mobil SuperSyn was obviously the brand that was on sale when I bought it...

I agree with you. I went to mobil's website and it doesn't say anything about it, it just shows the old style container. So I'm stuck with 8 qts of "old school" and want to learn about the new stuff haha

Haha why do you want to race me snrusnak? I mean sure I will. But why haha if you have a turbo or something is love to see it I want to put a small one on mine but doubt I'll ever get to that project. All i have is magnaflow cat back and k&n intake. Good mods. Awesome fuel economy and love the noise.

Article

Here is an article. I first heard of it from my friend who is going to a tech school for mechanics. When we lived together I would always make him go other everything with me and I'd help him with his shit just cause I want all the info I can get about anything motors or cars or bikes. Or anything interesting really. But anyways that's when I started looking into it all. That's another thing I hate. Starting my motor cold haha

I'm just screwing with you man lol. My tiny v8 in my full size truck moves out ok but isn't turbocharged(unfortunately). Might be able to hang with your big v8....

What all did you do to it? And I hope you can't hang with me hahaha. I have a liter on you. But that said I weight more then you. Crew cab ram box and 15 inch sub. I know none of those help haha. Here's a pick of some weight I saved! :p haha

I just have the exhaust, intake, and tuner. Granted on my engine the tuner adds 60hp (max, not peak). That's a pretty big jump.

It does 0-60 in the low 7 second area. Kind of a pig off the line. But runs good once it's rolling. What can I expect from a miniature v8 in a massive truck lol?

I love it, runs great, great mpg, and looks good.

I like the sleeper look(stock tailpipe)

EDIT: actually that's a lie I also have a converter but it doesn't help my truck any. My engine doesn't produce the low rpm torque to take advantage of it. I'm swapping it back out for stock soon. Causes high engine and trans temps while towing in the mountains.

Damn that's crazy!? What kind of chip I always wanted a bully dog but didn't really seem like it would really help that much performance. I just wanted it for fuel Econ and I can custom set all my setting and read codes and shit like that. But damn. I might have to buy myself a b day present. And o ya my trucks got some get up and go for sure. Enough for me to be proud of my ram haha

If I was you id keep the stock tip too love the white! Haha I was trying to find a picture of my truck from the rear but I don't :/ so I just did the one of my exhaust. I still can't believe how big the stock can was.

superchips. does more on the 4.7 than the "hemi", unfortunately(for you). any tuner would be the best bang/buck though for you (superchips, diablo, etc.). If you don't plan on big mods(forced induction, cam, heads, etc) go with superchips. They had the best canned tunes by far plus trans tuning.

Yeah that's actually a very old pic. Unfortunately it's been neglected. I have some work to do. I came down on a curb and damaged my passenger side step bar(go figure....can't go over curbs in a long wheelbase truck that's lowered....), only wash it about once a year now so it's always filthy, and have a few other things needing attention on.

Hahaha funny you say that. I was thinking about how much I use to clean mine and take care if it like a child compared to now. Iv had a few mishaps with mine too. But they are all getting fixed next month. But I will say I still try to get a coat of wax on it once a month (in the summer) fuck Iowa winters. Your trucks dirty after every drive you ever take haha so I could safely say ya it needs washed right now. But I'll wait ehh nother month :D hahaha

Can't show you where I saw it on the internet. But there was a synthetic oil comparison from like eight or ten mfg's. Amsoil came in first and Mobile One came in last. I was actually looking up some info on Redline when I came across this info.
