Hello all,
I have been a lurker for quite some time, but decided to take the plunge and register. Reason being, I am contemplating buying a NEW 2007 Lightning XB12s from the stealer if things work out. My question is this: Would you buy said bike for $9500.00 out the door, or try to find a new '09 SCG? The '07 has the six piston caliper on the front as opposed to the eight piston on the '09 (I think they made this change in '08). Also, I love the black engine case, covers, etc. on the '09. By the way, it is Cherry Bomb Red and has not even been prepped. It is just sitting there at the Harley/ Buell dealership near my home. It is the only lightning they have left and they said they are not getting any '09's. Thank you in advance for your opinions.

Greetings from Knoxville, TN

all i have to say is 07 you can buy a race ecm for it. 08 and later you have to be a racer to even buy them so good luck. i have an 08 firebolt and love it but more power is always better. my brakes work great and there not the new ones.

Nobody cares if your a noob bro. There's many around here, myself included.:D As far as the bike goes I'd definitely go with the 07 so long as its cheaper. The differences are mostly cosmetic but if that's your thing then by all means go for it. I personally prefer the solid color airbox cover to the clear ones on the new models. The 6 piston versus 8 piston? you'll not be able to tell a difference. The front brakes on my 04 will do a stoppie better than anything I've ever ridden. It's unbelievably strong. just my 2 cents. Welcome to the forums.

They don't even make a XB12S anymore, so hell yeah buy it! Probably the only new one left in the world :D

I would try to get them to lower the price because 9500$ is a bit steep for an 07 concidering I paid 10900 for a 09.

If you can get the 07 cheaper buy it. especially now that it's 2 model years old. no wonder they can't sell it. who would want to pay sticker price 2 years later.

jsq- Did you pay 10900 out the door after taxes, title, etc.? It is funny because the bike is listed for 11200 which I thought was rediculous. They added over 600 bucks for shipping and prep. The bike is the same price as it was in 2007. I told the guy (in a nice way) he will have a hard time selling it unless he came off of it a little. I didn't put anything in writing, but he made it sound like that was the best he could do. And so my shopping continues.

You can definitely find a better price. Used is always an option....might not pop its cherry but you'll save a ton of money ;)

You can most definatly get it cheaper. I bought an 09ss for $9,999 out the door. What dealer are you looking at?

wow big b, an 09Ss for 9,999? No, that has to be before taxes and licensing. You got that bike RIGHT when 09s came out and I know that no sane dealership would even cut their msrp being how prices are set from Buell, and not the individual dealer. I got a ridiculous deal on my bike. $2k off msrp, putting it at $8,300 but it came out to 10,300. So after all is said and done and he can walk out of the dealer with $9,500 out of pocket, that is one crazy deal. Like I said before, they don't even make that bike anymore, and it was their best bike, so he better buy it!

Yes, $9,500 out the door. That is after all taxes and fees. If they would have gone down to $9,000, then it would be in my garage already.

Work on them some more, if you show enough interest in the bike that you are serious, i'm sure they will want to sell the bike. Walk in there with cash, or a bank check for $9000 and ask them if they want to sell a bike or not.

Knox it was before tax but Keep in mind that I'm in Canada and our prices are usually higher then the USA ones, yes we get rip off all the times.

Thanks Falcon. That seems to be the consensus. I need to do a little more negotiating. I will let everyone know how it works out. If it does, I'll make sure to post pics. :)
