Hi.

New guy here.

Im not really a biker I am a motorcyclist and really dont have a preference to styles or brands of motorcycles. Ive had the luck to own and have owned cruizers (Kawasaki Vulcan 900), dual purpose (Suzuki DR650), sport touring (Aprilia RSVT), standards (Kawasaki ZRX 1200) sportbikes (Suzuki gsxr 750, SV1000, Honda CBR 600) and some good old motorcycles (Suzuki gs1150es, many Honda CBs, Yamaha XSs,BMW 90/6). Im quite sure over 100 have passed threw my hands. I like almost all motorcycles is what Im saying. (cant quite stomach that Boss Hoss. Im still trying.) I do sometimes get annoyed with their operators. You may know the type (or are the type). People who claim to know things without any experience and depend on the brand of their toy to project who they are and who they are not. Identity buyers. They do get one mind you, just not usually the one they want. Any hoo...(I ramble sometimes. Sory.)

Then......I bought an 03 xb93s this fall.
Its a great fusion of motorcycles Ive had.
Handling of a - SV650 - CBR - GSXR
Sound quality of - XS650 - HD - 955i
Comfort like- ZRX - RSVT
Street torque of - HD - ZRX
Unexplainable good feeling of - BMW airhead

If you havent had alot of motorcycles.....The xb9s (Im assuming all XBs) has a great mix of the best of some great motorcycles. The only thing its missing is a liquid cooled high RPM sportbike top end rush that isnt and shouldnt be for everyone. (I live in rural Minnesota so I have the room to zoom unlike "City Folk".) I had the XB up to 120 on the speedo before the front started dancing (no worries).
So if you are newer to motorcycling or havent owned a ton of different kinds of motorcyles consider your choice of an XB a very good choice.
It might not be the best at anything but there arent many motorcycles that pack so many good qualities into one.
Unfocused..no. Multi-focused.

IMHO.

Nice to be onboard.

welcome aboard
and I agree nice intro

you will find that many of us are buell enthusiasts but not to the point that we wear blinders

and just to warn you now (I know that you did not imply it but I also know that atleast I come off this way so here it it anyway, cheers:D)
we tend to go a little farther than other brands because of the way Erik Buell acts towards us (yes many of us have met him in person talked bikes and done the general shoot of the SH*t with him)
what may seem like blind on even religious affinity for the bikes and brand stems more from supporting an individual that works hard to support us and show his appreciation
I can recap my experience for you too and why I an very die hard about my buell (don't get me wrong I'd love me some Honda Yamaha Kawasaki KTM Aprilia or Ducati action too maybe even a Suzuki but they are not my favorite)
this year for buell homecoming the event was organized by buell enthusiasts, Erik took the time to come by and put on a show with his band, open the doors to EBR and do a long meet and greet in the parking lot
I missed all but the concert which was last on the docket. I had caught traffic in Chicago lost my map subsequently lost myself took a detour of another detour that dropped me off at a closed road thrashed by a storm with 69+ mph winds and was very late arriving
after the concert I ask Erik if he was coming by the next day, (during the meet and greet he tends to sign bikes and I wanted mine done too) he wasn't sure. so instead of the usual sorry he asked where my bike was
"all the way in the back of the lot, I can go grab it"

Erik still covered in sweat from putting on a full concert set "no that's ok lets go see it"

so out we went in the rain to look at my bike, he grabbed a sharpie on the way out
we talked about bikes and riding and my adventure getting there as we went to go see my bike. he made many comments and observations on my bike (I was flattered when he thanked me for taking such care of my 03 because it looked like a much newer bike) and we talked about suspension setups while we were out there and he autographed my frame for me.
that same week a friend of mine was on his way there when his oil line started to leak a bit, he stopped by EBR to see if he could borrow a wrench. whoever was at the desk said somebody would be right out with a tool for him, but of course it was Erik with a wrench and immediately got elbows deep in a bike to help get Iman105 back on the road asking for nothing in return.

so I know that I go out of my way to buy the Buell swag and boast on the bike and the brand but its more about the person that supports us

when I get an inline next year I probably wont buy all the brand swag to go with it, unless the head of Honda (or whatever brand I get) starts hanging with the rest of us

props to both Mojo and delta [up]
nice way to start the day
:)

welcome to the family Mojo, we are glad your here
:D

Thanks guys.

I kinda figured Eric Buell is for real.
Great story! My kind of guy. I enjoy helping people in need too. Once i got a harley guy home by using a bic pen body to extend his rotten and swollen fuel line. He was kinda screwed. He was pluging is line with his finger when i found him. He didnt have a shut off on his tank and his leg and engine was soaked with gas. He was sure happy to see me.

Every time i think about how harley evaporated the Buell line i cant help but feel for Eric.
(Rant coming on.)
Why dindnt harley SELL Buell like MV and get something out of their investment? Its not like GM where it was getting rid of an offshoot, or theree, of its company that competes with itself.
From what ive heard Eric is going on but there are pattents from Buell (from what ive read) that harley still owns and cant be used by Eric in his new compay. Does harley have it out for Eric? Or is harley run by suits and not motorcyclists? (dont have to answer that one)

Thanks again guys. If your ever in central MN. Give call.

Yeah I understand what you are talking about with feeling for Eric. My concern is were there any workers laid off because of Harleys BS. I work in the auto industry but I was lucky enough not to get laid off. However our company reduced our hours to 24 a week. I can't imagine how I would feel if I lost my job because a bunch of suits decided to shut my place of work down vs selling it. And it wasn't because they were losing money with Buell as much as they just wanted to concentrate on Harleys.

Welcome, thats quite a review and comparison you've put together in the the short time you've had your Buell.
