So us midwestern guys tend to put bikes away for the winter, especially in the cornbelt regions. I just bought another 200$ worth of parts and gear today, and I'm tempted to drag my bike out this week across my current swamp of a yard, just to throw them on. It's been far too long since I've even started her, and now i'm just feeling deprived. It got me thinking; What's the first thing you guys plan to do with your bikes this spring? Besides the obvious gas, oil, cleaning, etc. Any special rides or part installations planned? Photo shoots? What's up?

I need tires, need to address the front fender bolts that are seized in, and I would like to find a ram mount gps mount for the bike. Then put some miles down.

I actually need to find a way to get my fly screen off, because i believe one of the bolts on it just turns freely but never actually loosens. I have a RSS, frame pucks, and Protaper bars to install, grips to buy, a breather mod to finish, and anything else that i come up with before then. I have so much to do and lots of time, but i know if i get it all done now, i'll want to ride more and more, and i might do something stupid before all the snow it completely gone...

My Buell is In with me, and has been all "winter" winter here is a joke, I haven't officially put the bike up for the winter like I always did back In Illinois, So i've been getting to ride it often enough to not have to go through withdrawl. However My Triumph is back in Illinois still at my parents house. Once i get my hands on it, it'll get the normal stuff like oil, fluids, spark plugs, I've got new tires sitting next to the bike back home as well waiting to go on. Along with a solo seat cover and some shorty levers to put on it as well. I'm sure in the near future I'll order some DDM HID's for it as well. I do plan on polishing the exhaust till it shines on the Daytona as well since it's a dull metal silver/gray currently.

Like Crimson said, I may look into a GPS set up for the Daytona as well. I have one on my Buell that is all DIY which I really like. I'll have to see what i can do for the Triumph.

I MIGHT want to do a mount for my garmin at some point here, but the helmet i just oredered came with a free blue tooth helmet rig so i'm going to get myself "lost" a couple times this spring and see hot that works.

I just ordered some crossroads handlebars and a few other odds and ends from american sport bike. Can't wait to get them mounted and try them out. Al was a big help, answering all of my email questions.

Thats my GPS mount if it gives anybody any good idea's

i just dropped 60$ on a set of Pro-Taper EXO Cr High bend bars, 120 on a RSS and puck kit from ASB, and im spending another 500$ on a helmet after my tax return check gets here. Good thing I'm on my last semester of school! Now that i don't have to save for books and tuition any more, i can go totally wild this spring!

On a side note, does anyone know how i go about picking grips for my new bars? They are 7/8in like standard size. Do i just look for "7/8 grips" or something? Most places do it by bike, not by bar size. I'm probably going to do some sort of MX grip to match the MX bars.

I was planning on installing the high rise bars for a trip I planned in mid march. I want to go to south carolina, its about 12 hours away. But I got screwed over on that part.

clean in ride the hell out of it.

just bought a shoei rf1100 so im excited to try that out.

I'm buying a Blauer Loft helmet from FC Moto. I bought my jacket from them last year, and even though i had to wait a month for it to get here, it was the only place in the world i could find that had it in the size and color i wanted (black Icon Retro Daytona in Medium) and it beat the places that didnt have it in stock, but advertised it as "in stock" by OVER $100! The helmet will cost around 450$ with shipping, but its a badass bucket and it's a modular, which i prefer (glasses) and it's one of the few badass looking modulars i've actually found!

Planning to take her out of hibernation March 1st or so. Cross my fingers and fire her up while hoping the battery lived throughout the winter. Then go fill her up - making sure to put the gas cap on upside down as a nod to 09bolt - then take her on a 60 mile ride I drew up last weekend down Dixie Hwy in Northern Kentucky. Cannot wait!

a nod to 09bolt?

i just took my battery out and kept it on my desk, kind of as a motivator to get through this winter without hurting myself, but i never got a chance to even tear around on my sleds....no snow wahh wahhh

I keep my bike in my shed across an acre lot so thats a lot of extension cord to leave across my yard over the winter :p i figured that keeping my battery in my 70 degree room, away from the -10 temps we've been having here lately was probably a better choice. right?

A battery will lose a charge faster in warmer temperature for the same reason that it works better in warmer temperature. It's probably not a good idea for a battery to freeze, however :)
Either way, can't go wrong with a trickle charger.

I've got turnsignals and license plate lights to install, and a xb9 primary is coming soon so that should be good for some extra fun around town.

I am going to change out levers, grips, redo my breather re-route, and upgrade my kickstand before it breaks. I work at a machine shop, so i am going to take it in a drill it out to a 1/2 inch hole and turn the new pin out of stainless on my lathe. I love my job :). Might put on new signals. Everyone have fun with their upgrades and be safe on the road.

[up] I knew someone would make a pin eventually.
