Im considering trading a forum member my Firebolt for his Lightning SS.
My 04 Firebolt has 13,500 miles breather reroute, Ebay shorty leavers, XB-Dashboards dash, and a Drummer SS.
His 07 Lightning SS has 10,000 miles, Bar end mirrors, Uly Rss, K&N, Canned "Race " map, wrapped header, and a gutted stock muffler. Bike also has Weeping rocker box gaskets that need to be fixed.

Would you consider these to be a even swap or should one party throw in some cash?

Sounds your getting a newer bike maybe a couple of bucks on your part if he fixes the gaskets. But that's just my opinion.

I'm not sure about this but isn't the ss a more desirable model of the xb than the firebolt? This may be completely wrong but I thought I remember reading that somewhere.

if he fixes the gasket I'd say it's pretty close straight across, maybe a couple bucks his way. or if you guys want a trial, trade for like a week and see if you're both happy.

personally I like the ss and if I wasn't so attached to my bolt I'd take that trade in a heartbeat.

it's all about location really and if it's convenient for you both to trade rather than just sell and find a new one than definitely do that.

Being a big guy myself and always buying the SS models and knowing your a big guy ( no dirty jokes people) you'd be more comfy on an SS as opposed to the Firebolt. Just be prepaired for a lot more wind in the chest. Who's SS is it, anyone I may know ?

dont know the guys real name only his forum name. he lives in Arkansas somewhere is all I know as of now.

OHHHHHHH THAT GUY ! [confused]. If I were you I'd ride an SS before making that final decision. Like I said before your welcome to take mine out to get a "feel" for it. Just remember, if you crash it, total it, I have gap! [cool]

maybe we can get together when I get home Walls.....I need to get a ride in before it gets too cold.

squidbuellie said what I was going to say [up]

Your Drummer adds a few $, and his leaky rocker box drops a few $. I'd say as is, it's an even trade.

I turned my Firebolt into an RSs (Uly/STT swing arm). The longer wheelbase is better for me. I would take the trade. Especially if he does the rocker boxes. My $.02.

Just waiting on him to make up his mind. Im very interested in the SS and he seemed interested in my Bolt, but he says he has never ridden one so he would like to try one out before he makes his mind up. I dont know......he approched me me via Pm after I told him in his post I was interested in a swap. I just wasnt expecting to have to throw in money. Guess I will just have to wait and see............

Gosh guys, there's no hidden gremlins on my bike. I like wrapped headers and this past summer really sucked with the heat. They are painted underneath the wrap, no dents. I came forward with the leaking gasket. Can't really hide what I've previously posted about anyways right? :)

Freak, all I did was post asking differences in the two and that I was "playing" with the idea of trading in the future, then you offered to trade. I figured "What the hay! If I get the difference in cash for an older bike, no harm done." I go through toys like water anyways.

There's stuff that matters to you, and stuff that doesn't, the same goes my way. I don't really care about a high dollar exhaust, and you don't like the looks of a hammered can :) If I had any high dollar can in my hand, I would sell it and gut a stocker anyway. As posted previously, there's about a $1K difference in the book value, gaskets cost less than $100 and a day in the garage.

I promise even though this sounds like I'm a dick, that's not my goal here. I just feel everyone's sitting here devaluing my bike and holding a 3 year older bike on a pedestal...

and yes, I do feel the Ss is harder to find. There's been quite a few Longs popping up here recently for some reason, but Bolts can be found everywhere...but I didn't bring that up :)
