They are really cool cars for the money. His is auto, he also just bought a (IIRC T56) 6 speed and we will be converting it at the same time.

I'm looking at doing that with mine as well. I'm not sure though because it might push my budget over the 4k I'd like to keep it under. We shall see, I might just break it for a T-56, they're sex.

those iron block truck engines will def. handle some boost. Read a HOT ROD mag. article a while back where they boosted a junkyard 5.3 (all stock internals) they thru 20psi @ it and made 600hp or more, it never gave up after repeated runs on the dyno.

lol yeah the ratios are so much better than the 4 speed auto. My buddy got a used gear box with pedals, etc, aftermarket slave and master cylinders, and is going to use IIRC an LS7 clutch. He got a pretty good deal on all that as well, I think ~$1,500-$2,000 for it all. He uses hp tuners so he doesn't need the pcm. We will probably do the trans swap in one day, verify there's no issues, then next day pull it all out again and do the engine work, then next day put it all back together. He then has a week off after that so if there are issues he can trouble shoot.

First project is fixing the clutch in my 86 Fiero. It has a supercharged 3800 and a 4speed manual.
Second is working on my 64 Scout 80. It has a tpi 305, 700r4, one ton axles and h1 wheels/tires.
There's a couple bikes to work on, one is my cb750 Honda, the other is a kz750b twin cylinder. Im not going to cafe the Honda, it will be something of a "rest-mod", while the kz is up for anything.

Way too much to do in one winter...

I was getting ready to say, that is a handfull haha. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you though. And an interesting mix of project there too.

@BuellyBagger, yeah I've read a couple hot rod articles about junkyard LS's. They have SO MUCH potential. it's freakin awesome.

@snrusnak, the 4-speed in my Z has been rebuilt but the 6-speed swap is the way to go I think. My buddy did one in his 97 Anniversary edtition and it is so clean. Now only if he could learn to drive the damn thing.

Update on my project. I got my parts tracker and gutted it. I robbed all the 4x4 drive line from it for my 4x2 tracker. Also got a few spare parts. It took quite a few beers. I Also had to repair the front dif. its aluminum and when my parts tracker had been wrecked it broke the left end off where the out put bearing is. I got it all welded and reassembled yesterday and it looks like it gonna work great. Also got my new tires mounted on the wheels(runnin Cooper Discoverer STT2's 31X10.50). Next week ill start in on installing the driveline in mine and doing the lift kit.
More pics soon, ive been so busy i havent had much time to take pics.

I know I'm the only one still posting on this thread but im proud of my progress on my project considering my other responsibilties and limited time to work on it. So here it is my Geo is nearly converted to a 4x4 froma 4x2 the T-case is installed, ive also got the 4inch combo lift kit installed and a set of Cooper Dicoverer STT 31X10.5.

Still to be installed is the front dif. which i had to weld back together as it was out of wrecked tracker. Also soon be removing the clutch fan and upgrading to electric, i have already removed the cat. and will be building exhaust, and then comes the roll cage/ front exo-skeleton.

Heres the dif... and me laughing @ how funny a big wheel and tire with a geo center cap is.

I forgot about this thread.

We got it all done. The car fired up on second try. Was about 5 seconds of canking, then rest, then a few more seconds of cranking and vroom. That was a good thing lol. He hasn't really driven it yet because although it starts and runs it does not run well(needs tuned). For some reason his hptuners is not communicating with the ecm so he sent it off to get repaired. Should have it back soon and then tune it and it'll be good to go. He decided to park it or now as we are sure it's extremely lean. He's running on a stock tune but now has about 500hp. And he LOVES the 6 speed from the 2 times he's driven it. I have a bunch of pics, I can post some if interested.

buelly your geo is looking great!

I hate putting up drywall. That job SUCKED, but it is warmer in the garage now.

Love the Notchback Pur! Real clean looking! [up]

My Winter project is to pull the trans in mine and rebuild it. I think there are a few synchros out... :( I wish I was replacing it with something cooler like a 6 speed or a Tremec but a freshened up T-5 with a new clutch it will be. Someday, both the motor and trans will be updated! (wishful thinking...)

^ gorgeous notchback pony and nice hatch 50dro! Whatcha got for the drivetrain? Here's my "winter" project, I'm moving shops lol. My current setup is nice but hard to access and the property sucks when it rains. Moving to a main section of town right off a main road, more room, extra lift, hoping for good things from it.

Old:

Working on cleaning it up a bit before I move in fully. Few of my recent shop projects:

2010 Dodge Charger, did a Procharger install, SRT10 style rims with drag radials, wideband/boost gauge install, HID's, Hood stripes and a few other things. Put down 458rwhp/460rwtq, not too shabby for stock motor/manifolds/cats. It's a 5.7 too.

2001 Mustang GT, rebuilt the Vortech head-unit and upgraded the factory drain line to braided AN setup- has a fully built MPH motor in it with a TKO600, it'll move:

Once I get moved and settled in at the new place I'll offer a board discount to everyone if you ever need something done, mechanical, accessories, etc.

nice hatch 50dro! Whatcha got for the drivetrain?

Thanks man! Some nice projects you have there yourself! Sadly, my drivetrain is mainly stock with the typical late 80's - early 90's bolt ons (gears, exhaust, timing, pulleys, etc) but it's still a fun car. It's hard to drop the $ needed to "do it right" so it will likely stay as is for a while longer unfortunately.

Some of you guys take on some serious projects!

I guess I'll post the pics of my buddy's camaro. We do most everything to our vehicles ourselves but this is probably the biggest project we've done:

2001 Z28 camaro LS1 with 4 speed auto had about 160,000 miles on it, needing some maintenance. We reused the stock short block(was in good shape) and added a set of cnc ported aftermarket Patriot LS6 heads(also milled for higher CR), cam(not sure on the specifics), SLP roller rockers(1.7 ratio), 6 speed conversion with oem LS7 clutch, and a bunch of other stuff like polyurethane mounts, fixed his old longtube headers that were causing the exhaust to rub the floorboard, etc etc etc. Now needs tuning but is running.

The collector was angled up before so my buddy cut it off then welded it back on straight. Worked out well.

Nice project! Kinda reminds me of my 99' I sold. Once you guys get that thing tuned look out! Those Patriot heads work pretty good especially on stock displacement LS1's. I did an LS1/T56 swap into my old 87' Iroc years ago. I'm a HUGE F-Body guy and love building LSx engines. I've had a few from every generation except 1st and the most recent 5th. Hoping to change my 1st gen status by ending up with that Orange/White one you see in my shop lol. He wants to sell it.......... :D Here's a 68' I designed/built for a guy at a shop I used to work for:

Hey it's all if you enjoy it. They are fun cars with just those bolt-ons. Look good, sound good, run nice. May not be the fastest thing on the street but hey you can't be racing all the time. I want to know what purpony has under the hood :)

Thanks 50dro- love the look of your hatch too... All my old mustangs where hatches, never was a notch fan until i bought one .. haha

My drivetrain: R302 block =306 cu in, All forged, Trick Flow heads, Edelbrock lower manifold EFI converted with a 6061 sheetmetal upper, custom ground cam, Incon twin turbo w/ Intercooler, 72lb injectors, DFI stand-alone, aeromotive 1000hp fuel system, magnaflow exhaust, t56 6 speed, RXT ceramic clutch -
Suspension: Griggs--- K-member, a-arms, panhard bar, rear lower control arms, koni shocks with coil overs
Maximum motorsports --- torque arm, caster/camber plates, strut brace

Need to finish up some wiring, machine a few pieces for under the hood, and then get it tuned. Shooting for 650rwhp and 650-700rwtq. The DFI and injectors are new... last dyno pull make 580rwhp 620rwqt
Next winter, planning a mini-tub, widened wheels, and some 335s :)

Ramair- nice looking shop-
and your right... sometimes the bolt ons are the way to go.... stays reliable and still fun as hell. Im debating about selling my Mark VIII and getting another fox hatch with bolt ons to daily drive.... I just LOVE flowmasters and a B303.... music to my ears!!!!!!!!!!! I had a 93 LX roller last summer but sold it to a buddy that kept bugging me for it.

Sweet setup!! I think you'll hit your number [cool] A buddy of mine has a 95' GT coupe with a similar setup but he went 331, Vic JR efi manifold, huge single turbo and is on E85. He's had that setup for years now, puts down 1268 on 30psi!!!!

No kidding! I had a '95 GT vert when I lived in SD with MAC exhaust, BBK LT's with X-Pipe and a B303 and Thumper heads, ran great, sounded amazing, I'm a chevy guy but Ford nailed the exhaust note.

I'd like to take that Notch in the shop (guy that owns the building isn't doing anything with it) and do TT 6.0 lsx setup with L92 heads, LS3 intake, Pat G cam. Got my eye on this puppy at a dealership I do work for:
