I have an 05 XB12R with race pipe, race filter, and i have the stock ecm with a race map in it. I have a pinging coming from the engine upon hard acceleration. I was wondering if anyone has had this issue that has a map available to just put me in the right direction. Thanks

i use to get that sometimes and noticed if i dont use the multi grade fuel pumps it dosnt happen.just a possibility.

im not big on additives but try adding a little race fuel or octane booster and see if it changes.

I had same problem. Was caused by bad gas from cheap gas stations. Stick to big name fuel companies, chevron, shell and sad but true bp. Use the highest octane they have!

thanks jbirwin i always stick with big name gas companies and use 92 octane. I searched farther than the first three pages this morning and found out that i should check and adjust my static timing.

Well, I have the same problem with pinging specialy on hot days and tryed the best fuel(BP,REPSOL,SHELL) with 98 octane and still the same.Ajusted my static timing with ECMSpy and...the same.Tryed to advance timing as sugested somewere in this or other forum and equal.Any ideas????

what are the temps there.how many miles on bikes.this next idea is used on autos and i have done many times as an auto tech.on hot days with an engine that has carbon build up.you can have post combustion burn from carbon.take off air box and air filter get a spray bottle of water and spray water into throttle body while running engine and giving it throttle.just a couple squirts just enough to change idle and so you haft to give it gas to keep the idle smooth.do this for 3-5 minutes.let bike idle or ride then repeat and test for ping.do not pour water into engine and have engine warmed up first.this may sound like b/s but i have used this on many many cars over 20 years.and a combustion engine is the same wheather its bike, boat, car

I would say around 38º(100ºF)dry weather and the bike is hitting 17000km(10500 mi).Its a 04 XB12s.
Water into throttle body(I understant that´s spray)...don´t know about that[confused]

I´ll keep that in mind,thanks
