Simple green and stainless steel wool has always done the same for me....and I haven't removed any material form the rotor...

For some reason, I seem to be liking this idea more then sanding on my rotors...
 
Steel wool? Seem like that would take forever. That glazing is really caked on tuff.

STAINLESS steel wool- big difference. And combined with simple green, it has never taken me more than 15-20 minutes of cleaning.
 
The story that comes to my mind is that of one George Costanza and The Opposite.
