2007 xb12r ,,, air box mod,,, race ECM,, pipe,, k&n ,,, does not idle to high , acts like a bike that need jetted up ,,, thought the race ECM was going to do that
It is probably still lean. My bike when 100% stock was very lean, I flashed the race maps and it richened it up and it ran great. I then did a K&N and airbox delete and it was back to running lean and hot. I put the airbox back on temporarily until I can tune it.
Did you just complete all the mods? if so is your race ECM preprogramed for your pipe or is it a programmable? Have you done you TPR reset after you did your mods?
I would do as xtreme suggested and do TPS reset since you've done all those mods. That will probably make a noticeable difference.
Get ecmspy if you don't have it. Do the TPS reset, run diagnostics, etc. Then possibly run the NGK iridium plugs that are one heat range colder. It will help.
lol that may pose a problem. You know it's 2012(almost 2013), right!?!?
LOL
You can get a really cheap used laptop with windows XP for probably $100 or less, and get ecmspy free, and get a cable for under $50. Then you can do whatever you want to your ecm. That's cheaper than 1 preprogrammed ecm.
I don't see how a tps reset will do anything to a lean problem ,,, iv built many Harley's and in my exp jetting is how u get rid of tha buck and pop ,,, I know better than to get a efi bike
Sorry no jetts on the XB. Very easy program to use, you can either get a laptop and do it your self or pay an arm and a leg and have Harley reset your TPS. Maybe another member lives close and can help you out.
The TPS reset will likely at least help the issue your having.
EFI seems like a PITA and confusing when you first get it and don't understand it, but if you just work with it and give it a shot before giving up(get the program and spend some time on it) it is 100 times easier and better than carb.
I have a stock ecm that I've manipulated. I've never manipulated a race ecm. I don't see why it would be any different though. As far as I know it just has that stamp on the outside that says "for race use only" and it has different maps loaded to it.
Word of caution, you will likely be frustrated/confused at first when you try to open the program, install it, and use it. Especially if you are not good with computers. Once you get some help and figure out how to use it though, it's extremely easy.
Just telling you that so you don't get frustrated and through the computer through the window and give up.
Just think of it like the first time you ever saw a carb. You had no idea how it worked. There is a learning curve and then it is easy. Same thing here, but it won't take years of wrenching to learn it.
