Popping in airbox

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

There is a video on this forum which gives an overview on how it is done. I am trying to learn this process myself. The video makes it look pretty easy. I am sure once a guy gets the ECMSPY program up and running and does a TPS reset the first time it will be like anything else = much easier the second time and any time after that. If you look on the upper right corner of your browser on this site there should be a little window link to "BUELL DIY Videos". Lots of good stuff there to watch.

Muzzy,

I'll keep an eye on your thread because I think a lot of my questions will probably get answered here as well. I have a 2007 XB12Scg that is stock other than (according to a HD/Buell receipt for work I received from the previous owner) "Performance ECM, High performance Air Filter, and Performance Spark Plugs." My ECM does not say "RACE ONLY" like others do. The guys on the forums figured my bike had received a reflash of the stock ECM to a performance map.

Anyway, if I am able to save some money over the winter, I would like to do a Drummer SS, with a K&N open airbox mod (AKA airbox delete). I will need to learn how to reflash my ECM to work with the added airflow.

retrax, if you have a paper white filter with blue rubber caps it's an oem filter. The performance filter would be a K&N with redish filter and black rubber caps. If you get ecmspy we can look at your maps and tell you if it has race maps. And if not you can load them. Also, not to pat my back but I think I did a REALLY nice job on my airbox delete, if you're interested in looking at it.

My buddy has the Harley scan tool that they use at the dealership he said he can read codes and set tps with it ,, might try that ,,, is anyone useing a efi programmer I know a guy that has one and swears by it

Cool, thanks snrusnak.

Like the OP, this stuff is all a foreign language to me at this point so I appreciate the help. I live in MN so this might be a winter project but I should probably order the cable and get the software soon so I can at least learn how to look inside the ECM and see what's programmed in there. IIRC the previous owner paid $180.00 for what was listed as "Performance ECM" but the box has a regular ECM part number on it and doesn't say "RACE ONLY" anywhere on it. I did get the old blue rubber/white paper filter in a box along with the removed reflectors and the owner's manual, so I will be curious to see what is hiding under the airbox as of now.

What programmer? Honestly if you get the free ecmspy it'll be 100 x better. You can do a real good tune, or have one done for you if by chance you can't figure it out.
