So I was riding down the road yesterday and all of a sudden my exhaust tone changes very slightly and just as I was about to pull over the damn thing falls off. It had come disconnected from the front part of the can at the rivets (why don't they just weld them?) Just wondering if this has ever happened to anyone else? Also can I just weld it back together without it being an issue? Going to try to get Jardine to replace it, but since its older than 90 days (what a dumb warranty) I think they are going to tell me to just buy another one (haha), so buyer beware. Anyone know of another good cheap (Yes, cheap I am only a poor college student) easy replacement?

what i did was weld 1/4 20 nuts on the back side of the end caps and used 1/4 20 alens never had a problem since

Mine got pretty messed up though...I am hoping they will just send me a new one because thats such ******** that it just fell apart like that.

I just bought a used jardine can for 180 off some guy, I was going to repaint it yesterday when I noticed my rivets at the front were getting wobbly. At the moment I got a Buell race can on my xb9r, so it's not that big of a deal for me. I'm just going to open it up repack it (jardine has 10k on it) and put in some new rivits.

It amazes me that people still buy Jardines after so many people have reported this happening to them.

commonly its not the rivets that are the problem the material that they go through actually rips out around the rivets. most guys that keep them after a blow out just shorten them a little bit and drill new holes before installing new rivets.

I haven't heard of anybody crashing yet because of one but I can imagine running over your own exhaust has got to be a but puckering moment.
I would be even more pissed off if it put a hole in my tire, talk about insult to injury.

Any of you guys have any internal pics of the Jardine cans. Kind of curious how it is setup and the packing. Thanks!

Yea that's exactly what's happening, has anyone tried doing a substanial chop on there jardine?

there was a guy on badweb that cut back his carbon fiber as a fix and I think somebody used a fresh sheet of aluminum and re rolled the outside.

personally I would weld the fker up on both ends and forget about it untill it got loud again. then cut it open, repack, and weld again.
but that's just me.

Hello everybody. So what kind of exhaust should i buy if jardine is no good? i just baught a 2006 xb.What about remus or vance&hines?

Just get your stock exhaust gutted by hawk, ops, or drummer. Either way you go these guys are very easy to work with and their work will save some $$.

i want to know why jardine hasnt fixed this issue yet. obviously there is a design flaw here. you would think they would come up with a revision to update their part. its one thing to have a part that fails, its completely different to keep selling them anyway.

LOL Funny thing is i called these pipes crap on a different thread and got rep point taken away.

Sorry to hear this happened to you.

jardine stands by the improper maintenance cop out.

"they blow out because they were not re-packed in a timely manner"

I think its a load of bull. if I had any product that would blow up from such a minor maintenance issue (and one that is so gradual and has so little discern-able warning) I would be pulling it from the market until it was fixed.

change your packing every 2 oil changes and MAYBE you wont have a blow out.[confused]

i think jardine absolutely sounds the best but i wont buy another one cuz of this issue. I shouldve tried to put it back together more but honestly i got irritated and frustrated. [down] for me. :(
