So heres my issue i been having with my '06 Firebolt 12R. I replaced the battery about 2 months ago and have had no issues since. I rode to class the other day in the fog and it started with no problem. Went to go to lunch and nothing. No electrical current at all. On occasion it would cycle the gauges and I could hear the fuel pump doing its thing but when I hit the start button I get nothing. After class we tried jumping it and it would jump and run as long as the cables were connected. Once the cables are disconnected its done for and shuts off. I checked the battery terminals and they are all tight. Anyone had this issue before?

I had trouble earlier this year...hit the start button and nothing...sometimes intermittant start...but not the other problems you're having. Mine was a short in the starter switch.

Very possible the thought good battery has failed. Also have you lookes into the "77 plug/pin" repair? Behind your drive pulley cover is a connector thay commonly fries and burns up. Just chased a regulator issue last week, repaired my 77 pins, checked my stator it was good but no juice from my regulator. Possible one of these things cooked your battery like an over charging regulator that finally quit

sounds like a charging problem.
check the battery then plug from the regulator to the main wiring harness. if both are ok then test you stator and then your regulator. if one of the two is bad just buy a new set.
dont just buy one.

blove as theycallmecrash said the vr 77 connector might be the culprit. lots of threads on this forum regarding this connector. Upon inspection on my bike i noticed some melting on the female connector . I purchased the upgrade kit and so far so good. all the best

When jumping the bike make sure to get those cables OFF of the Battery quickly as you can. If the Engine dies when the Cables are removed possible something is wrong or it needs warmed up so getting the Idle up to 2000RPMs helps.Using a Meter at the Terminals on the Battery while Idling may let you know what is happening if it was or IS just a bad Battery. Then getting it to a shop OR Home is best than Damage that will cost more in the long run.
1st try and Recharge the Battery with the Battery Cables Removed off the Battery of the Bike, then try to Start the Bike AFTER the 77Connector on the Voltage Regulators wiring has been Corrected.
Most likely the Battery has been Discharged to a point MayBe to needing replaced. You can't Charge the Battery by hooking up to an Vehicle. The Vehicle battery is way more powerful and will suck the life out of it UNLESS it is a fresh Battery that just hasn't been used or Short Trips Caught up to not enough time riding to properly charge the Battery in the Vehicle..
Jumpng is fine leave the other Vehicle turned off. BUT Charging from Another Vehicle ,/ CAN Damage the Electrical Harness and I have seen several times where it Fried the ECM blew out the terminal on the battery because there was just too much Juice going into the Small CCAmps Battery.. That is a Seriously hard lesson Money wise to Learn . If a Battery is more than 3 .5 years old it needs to be Replaced anyway. Depending on the Brand. Hope it is an easy fix. Good Luck and Ride Safe. *Jimi
