Looking for some info on how difficult to powder coat my frame and swingarm. I just had some parts powder coated and now i want my frame done to match it all. How hard is it to take apart everything and put back together? I have a buell service book so I can reference that if I forget some stuff. anyone around the Lowell, MA area that would want to help take my bike apart and help put back together?

It all depends on your mechanical skills. I think it is pretty easy to take the bike down to nothing but some others may feel it is overwhelming.

I would think the hardest part would be putting back together. Specificallly the wiring harness

having taken everything apart last week the wiring is actually pretty straight forward its just remembering where every little bolt goes thats got me scratching my head

Not difficult but label where the bolts go. Also have the replacement bearings on hand before you get it back as waiting on them when you have completed parts sucks.

i wouldnt tear it down in the middle of riding season though. but its not that difficult. get a torque wrench for reassembly if you dont have one.

Quick question for those who have torn these bikes apart a few times. What do you think is the easiest way to swap in a new motor?

Also, is there a FSM available online in pdf form for the torque specs, etc?

I won't be taking it apart until the winter but just wanted to get an idea of how tough it will be. taking it all apart is the easy part but i was more worried about remembering where all the parts go.

Are there any parts you have to replace once you take them apart like the bearings?

I do have a torque wrench already. any special tools I will need. I have a lot of regular tools but nothing really for specific parts. I think it would be really fun taking it apart and putting back together. After the first time I would feel more comfortable too

Hi everyone, brand new here. I am in the process of putting my 96 s1 back together after powdercoating. I have a question, Does anyone know where the grounding strap lands?? I have one end on the swingarm mount, where does the other end go?? Needless to say I am missing a few pages of my reference & all the pics I took don't show it

I have to replace my frame, is there a build or some walk thru? Any special tools? I seached with no luck. Thanks!!
