HI everyone, I have an 04 buell xb12r with k&n air, and a jardine rt - 1 exhaust. Does anyone have the proper stock eeproms. I haven`t saved previous eeproms map before I`ve chnged it... I downloaded some, when I loaded them the bike, there`s problem. at about 1500rpm, there`s a gap and bike turn off or doesn`t start at all. Can anyone help please? thanks

thanks for link dallasb, but for my bike there`s only one map and it doesn`t work properly. All my problem stared, when I decided to make periodic periodical technical survey. We have only one official buell`s service in our country. It`s to far from me, so, I made it in unofficial cycles garage... Probably, when they connected my bike to laptop (ECM Spy), all parameters has been reset. Is that passilble? And then the problems started... Bike didn`t work properly... after several days configuring and trying diffrent maps and properties, they mede my bike ride again, but still there`s a problems. at about 1500rpm bike turns off, there`s a kind of gap (I don`t know how to expalin precisely in english). second problem is the bike did very loud. Can anyone help or maybe have proper maps to the bike please? (sorry for my english)

I have a few quastions about ecmspy softwere too, maybe sameone can help... what are those function used for: set AFV and what is the difference between open and closed loop and which configuration of them is proper for my bike?

you need to ride in closed loop for your ecm to learn, detailed explanation you can find through google in your language.

the goal is to get your afv at 100% and keep it there there throughout the rev range. you get this by doing a good ecm tune.

if i was you i would order an ebr ecm so you have no trouble.

i would also advise you to study the ecmspy guide before making any changes.

thanks for your help LeFox. We spent extra time on study the ecm spy`s manual and at last we solved the problem... the cause was invalid AVF. We changed value to the 115% from 100% and everything is fine now.

that will change again...the afv will self learn and adjust itself accordingly if you run closed loop (no hard acceleration and @ steady rpm for about 5 to 10 minutes)

thanks again, LeFox. I guess, I can`t leave this as it`s now... If I leave it, could it couse any damage to my bike? I`m still not sure, what is that closed loop and how it works... which options should I select to close it. Unfortunately, there`s no any instructions in my language about that... I`m not a mechanic, so it`s a black magic to me...

The Buell DDFI operates both as an OPEN and CLOSED LOOP system. This is necessary to adjust for all possible operating conditions. Buell's selection of high lift cams (which enhance engine performance) make it necessary for an open loop system at idle and wide-open throttle. Furthermore, when operating in open loop during cold start and idle, the system will utilize pre-programmed fuel and spark maps in the ECM for ease of cold starting and to provide a stable idle.

When the bike is at a steady cruising speed and operated under a light load, the DDFI system switches to closed loop operation. The system then continuously "tunes" the performance of the engine to compensate for changing conditions and provide maximum performance by using the O2 sensors input.

Didn't want to steal someone's thunder, whoever wrote the above, but basically:

- When in Open loop (Idle-around 3000 rpm & Wide Open), pre-programmed fuel & spark maps are used.

- When in Closed loop (3000+ rpm @ cruise), the system is using the 02 information to adjust for readings it takes.

(Note: The Closed loop range seems to vary on certain years and can be checked with the appropriate Service manual, but in general to do a Learn-in ride - Take a nice Cruise with steady throttle above 3K rpm)

thanks for explanation Stevenc150:) I tkink, I finally understood... At the begining, I thought that there are some options in ecmspy software which I have to select, to open or close the loop... now I realized that this happens automatically. one more question, can I ride my bike with afv set to 115% (could that couse any damage?) is that necessery to set the avf to 100% and then "Take a nice Cruise with steady throttle above 3K rpm"?

you can set it to whatever you want, but ideal is when you have a smooth running bike with afv set to 100%.
after riding you will see when you hook up your ecm, that the set value will have changed.
