Decided to see if i could make one myself using the stock cover.
Never done anything like this before so wasn't sure how it would come out.
After all done there are some things i would have done differently and might get another cover and do it again.

Took this after i clear coated it.
I'm not too happy about the gold line as i used a paint pen and not spray paint so its kinda naff.
But from afar its OKish.

Looks sweet! I see a winter project coming for me!!:D

Is the pulley itself stock? Did you clear coat it or anything? I know mine would not look that nice if exposed... Last I looked it was kinda rusty looking.

Took a purple scotch brite pad to it... wasn't hard and didn't use too much pressure either.
Mine was black/rusty before

This is what i did.

Cut out paper same size as pully section of cover.

Draw basic shape i wanted... tried to follow the front shape like a tear drop so as to utilize the bolt hole in the rear

Drew design opening to see pully wheel

Transfered on the cover using pencil

Then cut out using a scroll saw (wife did it-her saw)

Found the closest to the stock red in a can i could
DUPLI-COLOR

Covered it in grey primer first then shot about 6 coats of the red, drew the design for the gold lines but that didn't turn out so great then shot about 6 lots of clear coat.

I cut too much off the front side and exposed too much of the pully on the right side and didn't keep to the original design.
Like i said i might get another cover off ebay and do it again.

Oh that's easy. I've been wanting to cut my cover up as well. Being how I have extras, I was thinking of powdercoating my front and rear pulleys to match my wheels. You've inspired me!

50dro- it is stock pully just cleaned up... suprised me when it was clean. Haven't put a clear coat on it yet but i am thinking of painting it later once i have read the book on how to take it off.

I took the black off the teeth on the rear at the same time as doing all this. Someone on buellxb has painted their rear teeth red and looks good.
Thinking of putting 2 colours on the front pully as in alternate so it looks weird when it spins.

After reading the book i think i will paint the front pulley while its on the bike... lots of covering with paper to protect the rest of the bike but looks a lot easier to do unless you have the tools needed to get that thing off.

Dude, that looks GREAT!!!

I wish I wasn't such a dunce, or I'd get creative like that.

Knowing my luck I'd just F### it all up and self-loath some more.

thanks for the positive comments, was not sure how it would come out and about doing it myself at first
I got lucky with the cut out as my wife has a scroll saw but i think it could be done with a hack saw blade by hand
I screwed up by not staying with the original design but i might see if i can find another cover online and do it again

That looks sweet.. love coming on this sit always see so many more thing I can do to my bike..

OK, i am on forced vacation... you know, use it or loose it so i thought about changing the colour of the pully.
Wasn't sure about painting or spraying but after looking at the manual there was no way i would be taking it off.
Found a alternative using gold leaf.

Started off just doing the outside edge but didn't like it so i did all the pully around the main nut.
I used a gold leaf called VARIEGATED COMPOSITION LEAF - RED.
Its gold leaf heated and chemicals added to change its colour.

I'll get some better pictures in the day light and then once i get my pics sorted out i'll show you what i did.
Its not hard to do, little time consuming but turned out way better than i thought... these pics don't do it justice.
I also took the locking plate off and painted that as well.
