So, I've been reading up about this exhaust in the forums and I wanna make sure I'm reading this right before I make up my mind on which bike I want: If I go and buy a 2009 XB12Ss and throw a Drummer Original and a K&N then I can run a stock ECM without fiddling an entire weekend with the EFI and possibly ruining my new bike. I saw where KDFab states you can run the pipe w/o ECM changes, but what about a K&N as well (not an airbox delete, just the filter)?

A K&N lets more air go into your engine, causing it to run even more lean than it already is.

If it was me, I'd JUST put on the drummer and nothing else.

Once Directlink makes the maps for the 09, then you can do you open airbox and K&N.

Sounds good to me. I'm a big performance buff, but I think this route I just wanna roll through parking lots setting off car alarms and scaring little kid with the noise right now :)The whole messing with the ECM thing kinda creeps me out but, I've got several years of wrenching under my belt, just never actually attempted to dial in fuel injection maps on a laptop yet. I was reading on ecmspy's site and it doesn't look too bad though. Like I said, I just wanna make some noise and ride for now.

From what iv heard you could throw the K&N on there also. Im on an '08 XB12R and plan on doing the same as you.

Thaloc, you're not concerned bout it running too lean? My bike is already lean enough and it is stock, I would be afraid to make it any worse than it already is

I talked to Al from Americansportbike and he said that I could put a drummer and a K&N on my bike w/o any probs. I really hate that I cant remap my ecm or anything. I mean even the 1125 is remappable, and then they quit making race ecms for XB anymore I mean its really the only downfall I feel from the Buell line. I dont feel my bike running lean, only hint is the blue headers. I prolly would if I got it closer to top speed for any duration but I dont abuse my bike.

Q: Is an '07 ECM mappable to my bike, or a race ecm?

well the early 08s had older ECMs, in them.... sooo I dont see why not. Maybe that's a question for Al
