Question?

I have an 03 firebolt and I just changed the oil in it the other day but the oil light still comes on can anybody tell me why this is.

Is it on after your bike is started and running?

you change your filter? A clogged filter will lower your pressure and therefore your oil light will come on. (i think, i am new to motorcycles) please let me know if I am wrong.

- was the light on before you changed your oil? (says still)
- which oil did you change to?
- what did you do (step by step) when changing your oil?

FYI:

Is it possible that a bad oil drive gear could be to blame? ASB sales the aftermarket oil drive gear which comes stock in the 07' and up bolts. Just wondering for my own knowledge as well. Could a bad drive gear lower your oil pressure gradual or will it eventually just go bad and quit pumping all together?

Several reasons for light to stay on...will need more info from you. As LeFox asked, "was the light on before you changed your oil?" Does it ever go off? If it never goes off and you KNOW there is oil pressure, could be a grounded oil switch wire or just a bad signal switch. If you dont have pressure then you could have bigger problems.

Everytime i turn the key on the light comes on till i actually start it. It was on before i changed the oil thats why i went ahead an changed it. Before i changed it i rode around for maybe an hour then i drained the oil from the drainplug on the swingarm, then i took the old filter off filled the new one half full then put it on, then poured 2.5 quarts in the oil tank.

so, it comes on when you turn the key and goes out during and after start?
in that case, that's normal...it's just to show you that the light is working.
