I have one of those "back off" led brake lights. i need to wire it to ground and brake light. Under the seat, near the battery there is a plug with wires that run to the tail. In the pic is where I have showed these wires entering another plug that I assume runs to the tail light. I'm guessing black is ground, but need to know about the red & green. One should be running light & one is the brake light. Anyone know which is which?

I don't have a tester handy, so anyone who can give me a definite answer will be a great help. I just need to know which ones to splice into.

Thanks!

well thats your bank angle sensor. i dont think it will help you with a brake light.

There's another bundle that goes to the rear along the left side of the tail section. I guess this must be what I I need to tap into. Any wire ID in here is still appreciated.

the brake light wire is red with a yellow stripe. the ground can be hooked to almost any metal part on the chassis. no need to tap into a ground wire on the bike. just put a ring terminal on the end of the ground wire and add it to one of the ground points on the seat rail.

edit: the running light is orange with white stripe if you want that too

I hooked the light up today. Works great.

For anyone needing the info I requested here, what Kona said is correct. But in addition, take note that there are two red wires with a yellow stripe. One is the front brake and one is the rear.

this will blow your mind....its the same wire. thats why the brake light comes on regardless of which lever you use.

False. If I use my front brake, the back off light activates. If I use my rear brake, it doesn't. But either lever will activate the stock brake light.

so the front brake switch sends power to the brake light, and the rear brake switch sends power to the brake light. there is only one brake light wire on the bulb. explain to me how you can wire it into one of them without the other.

the switches are wired in parallel with the load. if you trigger either 1 or both they complete the path to every load on the circuit.

unless you actually cut the wire coming from the front brake switch and ran it to your back off light. but you said the factory brake light still works with either lever so that cant be the case.

I spliced into the wiring along the harness above the helmet lock. I'm guessing the front & rear brake wires join somewhere towards the back of the bike then enter the brake light assembly.
