Need tuning help

I have 2 seperate issues with my 03 xb9r:

-Check engine light will turn on when im at highway speeds, then turns itself off a few minutes later while still on the highway. Does not run any different.

-Changed my plugs & wires out a couple hundred miles ago, and i pulled one today to see how it was running, and it appears to be lean. It has D&D pipes, air box delete, and race ECM. What is the best and easiest way to remap my fuel system?

EDIT: These issues are resolved. I now need advice on how to map and tune. Will be purchasing a new (to me) xb12r and putting my D&D and open air box on it (leaving the race ECM on the 03 and selling it). I emailed the tuniversity guys, got a couple responses but that was it, they seem to be done.

Before embarking on any path to tuning, you should understand why the CEL comes on. Do you know what the code is?

In addition to that, i do not see any empty connectors under my seat. I found one i thought was empty, but when i popped the cap off it had a fuse inside. Any guidance here?

The ECM does log trouble codes. If the CEL is Off, you will still have "historic" trouble codes to examine.

If you have a Firebolt, the data link socket is under the front fairing and most likely has a rubber plug inserted.

My CEL was randomly coming on and she would sputter a bit and then come back. I check for codes and there were none, but I forgot you need to select the "read codes" for it to display in the "historic" section.

I had a new injector that was a dud...installed my old one and no issues.

Cheers!

I disagree it wont always keep the codes. My story, Bike would sputter, and light would flash, but it wouldnt show a code,
Then one day it did and said 02 sensor

I don't disagree, I overfilled my oil once. And it fouled the O2 sensor, but the bike was trying to correct the problem without throwing a code for the O2 sensor and it took me a minute of switch parts to realize what it was, that and the fact the sensor is hard to get to.

But now I can get to it and replace in 20min.

But it's a good place to start and see if codes exist.

Found the plug, grey socket with a rubber cap underneath the left hand side of the front fairing. A female spade connector made a perfect jumper. [up]

Showing code 44-Bank angle sensor. Not exactly what i was expecting, but could be much worse, so i suppose i will be replacing that before it ends up killing the bike for no reason.

Onto problem #2...remapping the fuel system. Pointers?

Properly remapping the fuel system requires some effort. A good starting point would be to read and understand the Tuning Guide for Buell, which is hosted on ECMSpy.com.
