So im getting some rattling in the mid rpm range from about 2500-4000. Its worst under mild deceleration but i can hear it even on slight acceleration. I had the local dealer check it out and the concluded that it was probably the lifters and or the timing gears. So since it was still covered under extended warranty i had them tear it down. They found and replaced the lifters and the entire front cylinder and piston because it was slightly pitted. This repair took a grand total of 7 weeks to finish during which i lost half my summer of riding. Upon getting the bike back i have noticed the the rattle is still present. Has any one else experienced such an annoyance? My bike is an 04 xb12r

yeah its sounds like the primary; check ur clutch adjustment; if possible suspend the rear wheel, run it thru the gears, try to duplicate the sound and pinpoint it.

Hopefully, adjust the Primary chain and that may be it.

I hear it sometimes but my bike has 20,000 + miles on it (05) and usually happens in those rpms when the gas tank is low. Guess the slight echo adds volumes. I just figured it was low gas cause I can't hear it after a fill up.

The noise is all the time, gas tank full or empty. Im pretty sure its not the primary chain i have adjusted that and so has the buell tech that did the repairs. I think tattoo 72's fix is probably my problem or something in that general area. i know they didnt take the cams out so i know that they couldnt have seen in to those bearings like tattoo did. thanks for all the input guys.
