removing wheels for tire change

Hey,
cyclegear.com has good deals for stands. Those will make you life easier.
I just changed my bike’s two tires 2 weeks ago and took me ~20 minutes to remove them (First time in my BUELLs).
I recommended you put a piece of carbon or plastic between you pad’s calipers to do not let it close. That saves you a lot of time and issues when you installed.

:)

It looks like T-Rex also is an Ebay seller. The prices seem to run about the same on the few different sites I've seen them. It looks like they come "S" with a straight handle or "V" with a round handle. There's also a "universal" variety. I want the rounded handle like you guys have but should I get the regular lifts or the "universal" ones? I need to be able to lift the front from the triple tree and the back from the swing arm obviously, but I also would want to be able to lift the front from the forks and the rear from the spools for my other bike. Those parts were included as well?

Get the universal it is the one that comes with the pad lift and spool lift. Get the 10mm spools, they are free. PM me and I will show you how I put mine.

I just use ratchet straps. Usually from my garage rafters but in a pinch...

Lack of money + scrap steel + welder + some fabrication skills + boredom = bike stands

Just to add a tip about removing the axles:

IF you do not have the special axle nut adapter, you can use a long extension and a 3/8 SPARK PLUG SOCKET!

put the hex shaped end of the socket into the axle, slide the long extension through the axle, then put the ratchet on the extension! One thing to note, when you do it this way, the axle is no longer reverse threaded! so this might actually help people that do have the special adapter but don't have a reversible torque wrench as well.

I figured that out before I realized the special tool was in my tool kit lol

oh yeah, when you torque with extensions on, add a few ft lbs because you loose some through the extensions (they twist a bit) probably 2 or 3 extra ft lbs

Update: I got my T-Rex stands (universal with fork lift) and put them together today. I have yet to use them on either bike but I have to say I'm really impressed how sturdy and well built they are. I also have a generic budget rear stand and with the T-Rex next to it, you can really see a difference. So far they seem like a great purchase for significantly less than the Pit Bulls.
