has a fuel pump code for 4 thousand miles now found bad wire at fuel pump 2 thousand ago still runs just wondered if it would reset itself or if i had to reset it

no it wont reset if the problem is still there and causing the light to turn on. you can turn clear the trouble codes with ecmspy .but if the problem is still there the light and trouble code will just come back on.

if the check engine light is on then a problem is present, and a trouble code is currently happening causing the check engine light to come on!!!

read the service manual on how to trouble shoot and fix your problem and then ecmpy guide version 1 and ecmspy software and cable to check for trouble codes and how to clear them.

Guys this is killing me. I have been searching for hours. How do I check the check engine light w/ out ecmspy?
Thanks

there is a method to touch the pins together, but I'm not sure what it is at the moment or if it works on an 08

I have that page bookmarked. But I cannot find that port. anyone have a picture or more detailed description of where it is located?

lightning is under the seat at the back brake side, firebolt is under the front fairing, bottom clutch side (can be reached without taking fairing off)

is there a cover on it? (like to protect from elements?) It connects to nothing, correct? And I know there are 4 slots. are there 4 wires that correlate?

Thanks for the help

there is a rubber stopper over it and the bolt one is zip tied up I believe, the lightning uses velcro to hold it in place

So I read my two codes I pulled up 2-1 and 4-7. I can't find anything at all on the 4-7 and on 2-1 it comes up with something on the exhaust? The bike is under warranty still. I think I am going to throw her on my truck and head to the dealer tomorrow...

no idea on 47, but 21 usually means you disconnected the exhaust servo and haven't turned it off with ecmspy or it really is malfunctioning

I cant figure out why I am getting a 21. Bike is all stock nothing is disconnected.
On the 47 I thought I was losing my mind. But I went through the sequence at least 5 times to make sure I was right on the 47. It would flash stupid fast, give me a 2 second pause then 2 flashes, 2 second pause 1 flash, flash stupid fast, pause, 4 flashes, pause 7 flashes over and over. I guess I will just trailer it to harley instead of dicking around..

Not sure on the 47 either, but the 21 can be cleared when you hook up to ECMSpy and do a diagnostic - worked on mine.

in the electrical manual I just downloaded for the 08 xb you get a check engine light on for four seconds on initial start up, if you get a CEL after an additional 8 seconds that indicates a stored fault code.

If the cause is corrected the light resets itself after 50 start/stop cycles.
I have not tested this, it sounds like a long time for a reset. I will get back into the manual tonight and go over again. I have no clue how to read the faults on an 08, nothing comes up on my odometer under F
