I have a question for those of you more engine/bike savvy than myself. My 07 CityX is running a little weird. I just read a post about re-flashing the ECM or something like that.
So here it is, The bike's got plenty of get up and go, and corners beautifully. However on any type of acceleration (normal to hard) the bike Bogs down at about 4000 rpm, If I push it through the acceleration kicks back in at around 4500. It's not a major issue but I don't think it should be this way.

If I keep it in the bog range it's a bit jerky and doesn't feel right. When I push through to the top (4500 rpm) the power kicks in to where it Should Be instead of where it Left Off. Needless to say this can be a bit hazardous when I take off toward the rear end of the car in front of me.

I took it in a couple months back and told my local HD shop about it, I asked them to reset my TPS to see if that would fix it. It was ok for a week or so, but now it's doing it again. I called the other day to make an appointment for my (near) 10k tune up and they want about $600 for the tune up.

So, is there anything I can do or have them fix/check out to address this problem (preferably under warranty while I still have one) Or does anyone have any ideas on why my bike does this? is it normal? Is it serious?

Thanks

tps reset mine did the same thing i posted the exact same problem 1 year ago took it to the dealer and had the tps reset and wala perfect good luck and safe riding

By "re-flash" are you referring to a TPS reset? If so you can do that using ECMspy. All you need is a deutch connecter that you can get on ebay of asb, and a laptop. Using ECMspy you can reset the TPS pretty easily and you can also remap your ecm to smooth out your fuel curve. Check out Xopti website for more detailed info on ECMspy. Hope this helps.

No, Re-flash was something I read on here about the ECM. As far as Learning in the ECM, I assume your referring to staying at 3000 rpm for so many miles? I did it the whole way home, except for stop lights and all that. The only thing I could think of (and like I said, I'm not Tech/Engine savvy) was that I didn't Learn it in long enough and the bike started doing this at about the point where I shift in normal calm riding. Could this be a possibility?
As far as the ECMspy, I thought about buying the cord off ebay but I didn't for a few reasons. 1: I didn't want to screw anything up. 2: Live on the second floor, and don't have a lap top. 3: wouldn't know where to start if I did hook up the bike
Which brings us to another question. Is the race ECM worth the $180 on ebay, or is the ECMspy easy enough to use that I won't F up my bike?

could be a leaky inlet...but i'm more leaning towards a tps reset and seeing what happens. could check af ratio

if you want to do a tps reset yourself, instead of the dealer, you'll already be better off with ecmspy.

when using ecmspy, 1st thing you do is ready the manual twice and backup that ecm.

your bike is still all stock?

Yeah it's still stock. The only thing I did was cut up the airbox. The reason I had the first TPS reset done was for the same issue though. With the ECM spy I have to have the bike connected right to my computer right? There's no taking out the ECM or anything like that? Also with it you can basically change the stock ECM to race type settings? -Thanks for all the info

Yeah, you have to either bring the bike to the computer or vice-versa. It has to be connected to the bike, with ignition on. Also, pull the headlight fuse so as not to drain the battery.

And yes, with ECMSpy you can load Race ecm settings onto your stock. If I remember right, Xoptiinside.com has them on their site.

Thanks everyone for your info. I think I'll get the ecmspy instead of going to my local stealership and paying way too much for them to not fix the problem.
