Okay, so I've been having this issue with my bike where the revs die down VERY slowly and often it will hang at 2k rpm (my bike idles at 1.1k).
Any ideas?

and also I got about 110 miles until my low gas light turned on.
Any ideas here?

Turn your idle down a bit. I think it's supposed to idle at 1050 but I have mine closer to 950 or so. I used to have it set at 1050-1100 but it was hanging just like yours. Not sure about the gas light.

I agree with the idle speed. mine is around 950 tops. I tried to adjust it one day, but the rpm would "hang" when i closed the throttle. adjusted back to 950 and all was well. Not sure how many miles you should get, but i get about 220kms to a tank before light turns on. Depends a little on how hard i'm riding too. Hope this helps.

What are your bikes specs like year, mods and miles.

Since I got my EBR race ECM for my 2009 XB I have similar symptoms of high idle when ever started around 2k give and slowly settles around 1,050-1100. I have emailed EBR about the situation and they stated it was normal from the new programming. Obviously I get worst gas milage but not as bad as you; maybe because you drive like a bat out of hell? lol

Good Luck

does it hang at 2k when you stop at a light or stop sign after 20-40 mile ride??
few things to checkout here..
double check your breather mod filter to see if it oil soaked/clogged, and dripping oil from it?
double check that your throttle cable is not hanging up and that (with engine OFF) roll on full throttle then release. does it spring back to closed throttle quickly, and the throttle/grip is all the way up and cant go no more or can you move it more??

how to adjust idle
pic below is of the Idle adjuster cable on the left side next to your scoop (my scoop was remove in the pic ) just below your clutch side handlebar.

see manual above for more info on it.(and better pic)

My bike is also 03' xb9s, race exh. with K&N.

If you still have trouble with it, suspect the intake seals. Rubber O ring lookin things. They get hard as a rock and don't seal.
