I recently bought a 2004 xb12s. I bought it maybe 3 weeks ago from a dealer in lower michigan who bought it from an auction. Its a repo bike from ohio, sorry if its yours. But anyway ohio titles suck and dont have a dealer reassignment section. So I bought it and had to wait a week for the dealer to get a michigan resale title. So after a week it came in with a 14day temp plate which i have been riding on. That will be expired soon and i sent the title to mass so my mom could register it for me. The massachusetts rmv says the vin number is wrong but it isnt, i checked the head tube. Anyone else go through this? Are buells so obscure even the RMV don't know what they are.

Im a mechanical engineering graduate student. Thats why im living in michigan but registering it in mass which is where my residency is.

Here is a pic to offset the amount of text. I have removed the reflectors, replaced dumb mirrors that look at my arms with a bar end mirror that i can see things with, rebuilt forks, breather re-route, and removed spacers on front turn signals. Oh and the obvious oil change

Usually in my state(Florida) when there's a dispute over the numbers on the frame and the title they ask you to bring the bike by the tag agency and someone come and check the vin and they'll correct it, however, how is handle in your state is a different story, by the way, just contact the selling dealer and tell them to fix the problem for you.

Does the VIN on the title and the bike match? If so then you can to a car fax to insure that it is not a theft recovery. If its a theft recovery then it may have had the vin altered, theives are quite good these days. Other than that can't help you much other look at another Buell, the beginning of all Buell VIN's are similiar.

That's strange. I would try to get it all cleared through the RMV. Luckily, I didn't have a problem registering mine in Mass.

the frame and vin match. both the sticker and the stamping on the headtube. and the title. but the rmv says its invalid. its hard for me to bring it by the rmv though. its 1200miles away. they said they want to send a paper to me and have a police officer write the correct vin number. but its already correct. [mad] and apparently police officers never lie ;)
