Heya peeps,

Planning a 2k mile trip down the East Coast on my XB9. Not the first time I've taken a lengthy trip on a bike, but it will be the first time I've taken my Buell anywhere.

Basically, I'm just looking for suggestions about how to prep the bike and what to bring. What's most likely to break (god forbid)or need replacing. I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Any suggestions or advice you guys have would be greatly appreciated.

You should probably go buy another Buell. You know, for backup purposes only. It's clearly the best option.

Depending on mileage, replace your wheel brngs, cheap now...
If you're not already, switch to full synthetic oils, smoother running, cooler and better power. Tires... that kind of distance can thrash a rear tire pretty easily.
And last but not least, how's your drive belt?
I live for the long ride, hope this helps.
Cheers.:D

If everything is good now, I'd just have fresh oil and do a good pre-flight check; eyeball for loose bolts/screws. Long mileage is usually easy mileage on the bike, but vibration will take it's toll. I usually have to tighten something on a long trip and carry a little tool roll. (One of the beauties of the older HDs was that most everything was 7/16" or 1/2" - you don't need to carry much.)

A list of Buellers and phone numbers along your rout, most of us would help if needed.

Also if your going to replace anything of do any work on the bike make sure you do it a week ahead of time. If you strip or break something at least you have time to replace it.
