i've tried to look through the numerous threads on the various communicators, but i find myself sort of in the 'paralysis by analysis' catagory with all of the varying opinions and other available options.

i've looked at several options, read countless reviews to the point my eyes are crossing, and i think i'm close to making a decision, but i thought i would post a thread specifically for the G4 to get your thoughts/opinions before i make the purchase.

i'll be pairing with iphone.

anyone have it?
recommend it?
problems with it?
how much did they find it for?
anyone have it on sale right now(other than revzilla for $219)I'm a supporter of forum sponosers, xl_cheese, if you can match, i'll head your way?
general feedback i need to know before buying?

thanks all

Richard

In for reviews.

Been looking at this also, but would like to hear from others that own one or a similar item. I'm also interested in the price match option (nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more).

You two should talk about getting a team set and splitting it 50-50, it'd be cheaper

I have a set of G4's and a set of the Q2'. Love them both but the G4 is a lot more powerful. (longer range)

-radio
-cell phone use (people cant even tell im on the bike)
-mp3 (ipod)
-gps navigation
-talk with 4 other riders on open channel and connect a Q2 and have them join the talk.

I mostly ride by myself, so I'm looking to stream bluetooth audio and phone calls. Mostly for audio though...

I have the G4 power set, but never really use it. Works just fine, just prefer to ride with earplugs.

Thanks for the responses. I was curious how well the cell phone would work. Ive got a loud pipe and a bell star helmet which is on the louder side.

I have the G4 power set, but never really use it.

Interested in selling?

If you'll buy the full powerset, and I get the go-ahead from my wife, I might entertain an offer. I used one set for all of about 1 hour, and the other remained in the box. The only used thing about the powerset is that one unit has had the velcro installed into the helmet.

Oh you have the full set? I was really only looking for single, but it might not be a bad thing to have two in case I want to take a road trip and another rider doesn't have one.

On the web reviews it talks about charging with USB. Since there are two units, are there two chargers, or is it a single charge cable?

Cherry and i first got the cheap interphone set when she was intrested in learning to ride.

The head set crapped out on mine and we ended up getting the scala g4 after reading a ton on the interweb.

Paired to iphone in less than 20 seconds.
you can play the ipod fast foward or rewind.
take phone calls and even voice dial.
The voice connect what ever they call it is awsome .
it tells u connected to rider a connected to cell phone.
Range is good .
theres no feed back from the other rider even in open call(this drove me insane with the interphones)
not overly impressed with the radio feature.
the sound level and clearness of the music isn't the best.
it is not loud enough to hear with ear plugs.
But loud enough to here over my barker on my 1125r.
speakers crackle if it's turned up with music with a lot of bass.
Button controls work great .
expensive but money well spent.

Yes, two G4 headsets, and two chargers.

I know Dave was looking at a single unit as well, so maybe you guys can pool together and purchase them from me.

The wife gave me the big negative on the sale. While I ignore her most of the time, I have to give her these small victories or my weekends adventure riding and paragliding get complicated on the quick.

Ive had my G4 set for over a year now. I love it. Had some issues when i first got it but the newest software update fixed any issues i had.

They do now offer it with a corded mic instead of the boom mic. Get the corded mic for any closed face helmet.

Cheapest i found was on ebay. Used to be all over on there for $180.
