I'm always looking at buells. So I find this one advertised as an s but Is clearly an scg with scg suspension but it was a stock scg I'm sure (I looked at the vin).
However the emblems on the fly screen and the cheese grater say "xb12s"

Is this the way an scg comes for the factory or has something been changed on this bike?

I've got the 03 xb9sl. It's the low model before the scg. And mine is the same way. It came with the badges that had only "S"

How can you tell it's a low cause my owners manual has written in it xb9s low and so does the original key tag from harley but the shock is blue....

low/scg yellow spring on rear shock, fork wiper just below the top screw of the front fender as you can see in the pic, but now it has a blue spring and the fork wiper is roughly 1-1/2" above the top screw of the front fender, the rear suspensions are different lengths when placed side by side, forks as well
