That's true - the sound of a bike is an important consideration - if your wife likes the sound of an inline 4 more than a twin or single, then by all means, go with it. Whatever gets her on a bike!

twoguns I would like to ask you about your lady's xb9 with scg suspenssion, is handling any different from the standard xb9? I am considering it but as it is rather expensive mod I wold like to know how it affects the bike. thanks.

I have a female friend who is 5' 2" and she was able to ride my 09 Scg with no trouble. SHe doesn't flat foot but it was ok for her. In fact, she loves it and it has improved her confidence tremendously. She has a HD Dyna Low Rider and I think she secretly prefers the Scg but won't admit it.

a cbr400rr would be nice, as would one of my all time favorite bikes, the zxr400, but not much luck in the US. Choices here go straight from junk beginner bikes to 100+hp potential death traps for beginners.

My wife sat on a Savage at the Long Beach Bike Show and I hate to admit it looked pretty well balanced to her. She's 5'2".
