Yeah one of my riding buddies just got a job over there as a salesman.. his name is Don Juan Rodriguez (and that name is a good description of him ha ha) and he texted me last night saying that they had to put a sign on that 1190 saying it was for out of State sales only. For some reason the salesmen were told that the 1190 is not "street legal" in Florida.. I don't have any idea what they are talking about do you?

If it's not legal for Florida it's probably something stupid like our plate mounting laws. I know when Harley first brought out the nightster (I think) a law was passed where the plate had to be in a fixed horizontal or vertical from top down position (not because of the nightster, i think the law was mpre directed for those that would obscure plates to do something stupid)The nightsters had a plate mount that swung in towards the swing arm and I'm not sure if they stopped selling them or just changed all the brackets out. But I know there were a lot of over priced tickets written to nightster owners for a factory plate mount because of the letter of the law and not the spirit. I wonder if it is something similar going on with EBR

Yeah on the "not for sale yet" in Florida. I was there today and saw the blackish colored one (pictured upside down above). Beautiful bike. On the showroom floor with "do not sit" on the seat. [down]

I was told it would be "approved" soon for sale and was asked if I wanted to put down a deposit to hold the bike. LOL.

Asking $20k. Again, it looks amazing in person. Well done EBR, well done.

They got that HD 500cc liquid cooled right there by the side of the front door... I sat there 20 min studying that thing. its got HUGE, beefy foot control mounts, they look like they came off a Sherman tank.. I guess its made to be dumped over and over as a school bike. Other than that , it looked it real nice... a lot nicer than I thought it was going to look for the asking price. Fit and finish looked real good and the motor kind of looks like a little V-Rod motor.

Was there today and it sold. Said it was in the back with a deposit on it and took me back there to see but it had already been picked up. They said they also have one in a crate so mid week it'll be out.

I questioned them about not being able to sell in Florida. All he said was he thought the same thing but guess not cause they had a deposit on it (That was before we went to the back to see it was gone).

Either the example I saw up here in Canada in January was a pre-production model that had been slapped together, or Canada gets the 'made in India' models, or you & I have different definitions of "real good".

The Street I saw had crude-looking castings, hardware-store fasteners, pitted chrome, & orange-peeled paint. Definitely not worth the ~$7000 mrsp IMHO.

the one we got here at Seminole looks fine.. the other guys here that go to Seminole HD can attest I think.. the paint looked good, what little chrome it had looked normal, it has real a matte black looking motor in it, everything looked like normal for the industry if not, a tad better in spots. The only thing that looked out of place to me was the foot controls, they are real crude and industrial looking, heavy, steel flat bars cut into the shape of controls.. but I think its because they are the new school bikes to replace the Blasts. This one here is gloss black with a matte motor and exhaust.. I looked for crude welds and anything "out of place" and I couldn't really find anything that looked "cheap" on this one here in Florida. Like I said, it just looked kind of "industrial".. I liked it, I would have liked a "café racer" style better I think.. something with a XR750 tail and a road race tank , that would have looked real good on it..

Me too. In fact, any interest I had in the Street (prior to seeing it in the flesh) was in the prospect of making one into a cool little cafe racer. Think I'll consider the 'new' SR 400 instead!

That's a nice looking bike. Could be that you saw an early pre production version or something. It didn't look "bad".. didn't look as good a Sportster though either. The hand controls looked minimal and kinda "serviceable" too.. like something off a 4-wheeler. Best part of the bike that I liked was the motor, it looked like a little V-Rod motor all blacked out in that same finish we got on the XB covers. Looked to me like the kind of bike you would want to pick up used and mod out into something that could be better. It didn't look bad, just kind of basic.. a whole hell of a lot nicer looking than a Blast though.. a lot nicer.

You must have been looking at a different bike. Motorcyclist Mag wasn't impressed with the fit & finish either:
"...Stand around the machine and soon you're seeing sloppy welds, unfinished looking wiring, rough castings, panel gaps, and other transgressions—one of the most noticeable is the poor fit of the exhaust heat shield where it meets the muffler. And while H-D claims the Street's paint is "mile-deep," the matte finish on the pre-pro machines looked no better than primer....".

Go cycle, the matte black was the same matte that is on the XB primary covers for the X-cross.. what I saw was the new 500 that they are going to use as school bikes.. aside from the things that I mentioned, it didn't look bad to me.. it just looked simple and rugged.. places like China and India would be proud to have them I think.. every dealer should have them buy now, go check it out yourself.

The 500 and Seminole looked just like this one but without the handprints all over the bodywork.. ha ha and I don't think it had polished cooling fins.. I remember it being all blacked out in the same paint that is on a City Cross motor. I thought it looked pretty good for what it was.. not at the level of a Sportster but ok... seemed to be something you could take out and thrash without worrying about it.
