Remember...if it WASN'T for H-D, we wouldn't have XB's.
Haven't forgotten that for one moment, however, Erik Buell is enough of an entrepreneur that with or without HD, he would have come up with something spectacular, if not the XB.
there were (and STILL ARE!), some really good, dedicated H-D dealerships out there
I have no end of respect for small independent business-people, HD dealership owners included.
Many of my friends are 'old-school' Harley guys.
Me too!
Call it a tractor motor
I mean that as a term of endearment; there's nothing like the syncopation of a single-throw crank (even if it was originally only a budget consideration!) :D

My fundamental issue with HD is that some decades ago, they just gave-up. They recognized that they couldn't beat'em, they weren't prepared to join'em, so they just got out of motorcycles, and got into the nostalgia business. If you're into nostalgia, that's great, and if your'e an HD stock-holder, that's even better. But if you love the sport of motorcycling, and the innovation that goes with it, not so much...

I meant no 'hate' on your reference! :) I guess, being from a drag racing, pushrod engine dominated era, I AM into nostalgia. Although I do embrace SOME of todays technology, I also long for the 'old' days of V-4 gear-driven cam Interceptors, and the like. I can't REALLY blame HD for sticking to their roots, but I too would really like to see them 'expand their horizons' some. (Like they STARTED doing with the Buell line). HD is a MOTORCYCLE manufacturer....no musical instruments, lawn mowers, or anything else. And in that, I CAN respect them. I do see it as a shame, as the company has SO much more potential. Another thing I REALLY don't 'get' about HD....they support flat-track racing BIG TIME. They support drag racing BIG TIME. Yet....at the DEALERS , you'd never know this. At least in the automotive world, you've got Camaros, Mustangs, Chargers, etc., with their own aftermarket support. Oh well.....this is a good topic for thrashing around a table with some beers and good friends!! And...in the end, it will probably never change?! Lol! :D

How about HD coffee beans, dog-leashes, watches, bar fridges, bed sheets, beer, baby clothes, umbrellas, pool tables, toilet seat covers, luggage, floor mats, wall clocks, knives, mud flaps, snow globes, bbqs, cologne, neck ties, ear rings, wine glasses, and countless more crap I've seen their logo licensed to? :D

Any motorcycles they still happen to sell are simply objects to attach an emblem to. :p

I believe you understand what I am referring to. Yes....they SELL 'accessories'....NO DOUBT!!

no they are just a brand that will sell anything for a buck from aprons to zebra print pantys and everything in between including motorcycles

I 'spose when 90% of the motorcycle culture in the country you build your bikes in REVOLVES around your product, you might as well capitalize on it! :D

Back to the topic.... I'll be at Seminole HD tomorrow morning (08-Mar) to hopefully see the EBR bike.

I stopped in last night to see the new one and I took my 85 year old mother(it was after our weekly dinner get together). They took me in the back service area and there she was. They even tried to get the 85 year old on it for a picture but she declined. All of the service guys got a laugh. I may not be an HD guy but the folks there were very hospitable. I can also say the same for the few times I have meet Erik. As much as I like the new bikes I am really happy with my 12R. It just fits me in all the right ways.

I didn't get to ride it:( I got there to late. But
I'm loving everything about the bike. I wanted the black one but after seeing them in person I really like the red one now. The owner of the dealership rode it earlier in the day and said he loved it. He said the power delivery was really linear and the traction control worked great. Super bummed I didn't get to ride it but at least I finally saw it in person. I will say I wasn't to impressed with the exhaust....way to quiet. I hope to get back out there this weekend to give it a ride[smirk]

I went to Seminole today to order a SX badge.. the 1190RX was gone.. one guys said "OH we sold it" another guy said "Oh I think someone accidently scratched the tank and were buffing it out.."

question: I went in there to order a XB9SX badge for the handle bar clamp and we couldn't find it in the parts catalog.. did the SX come with one or was it plain?

I was down in daytona last week and stopped in at Seminole on Friday. Guys at ebr said they had one. Salesman looked at me confused and asked how I knew they had one lol. Brought me in the back actually let me sit on it and check it out was very cool. I got a picture sitting on it. Don't care for that color tho.
