Not sure if that's the exact cause, but I recently replaced the shift lever. When I put it on, I simply unscrewed the old one, put the new one on. Didn't seem like rocket science.
A few days later, I was riding down the road, the shifting became super soft, looked down and the bolt had come loose. Luckily I caught it before it fell off, so I tightened it and was on my way.
Then last night on the way home, it again became hard to shift, I looked down and all seemed well. I got home but it wouldn't go below third gear.
After about an hour or so of the bike being off, I was finally able to shift it up and down again in the driveway.
Is there some trick to replacing the shift lever? None of these issues cropped up until I changed it. Does it have to be super tight? A little loose? It feels like it's not travelling enough, but it doesn't always feel that way.
Please help, I want to avoid any tranny damage.
