im looking at a new set of tires, the best deal seems to be shinko tires. they are the only ones that are sold with a 200mm in a set. they also look the best, they look like track tires. i have only used dunlops.has anyone used shinkos? i would like some opinions before i order.

You're going to get a never ending battle of opinions. All that I know about these tires is that my friend took a nasty highside cause his tire didn't stick. I know there's a thread in here somewhere that LeFox did that is amazing on tire reviews!

If you are a casual rider then they will be fine if you are a hard core rider then I would invest in a higher end set of tires.

High side accidents are typically caused by over-acceleration or braking in corners, but also can result from simple over cornering in which the rear tire reaches its cornering-limit before the front tire or extended lock-up of the rear brake or wheel spin under acceleration combined with side-slip while traveling straight. In all cases, the rear-wheel begins to move out of the line of travel and side-slips. If the wheels are not aligned in the direction of travel when traction is suddenly restored and the rear-tire stops slipping then a high side is likely

they look like a good tire. the review was for the race tires,i would like to see a reviw on the tires i want, the apex sport/street tires. at 172 for a set with a 200 mm tire it sounds too good. my other choice is the michelin set for $253. but only comes with a 190 tire. im going for street/performance, i might see a track day but im mostly a on ramp racer . i more care abot the looks and how it will last. i also love the tires that come on the new triumph daytona but cant seem to find them for sale.

I got a set of Full-Bore's which are mede by shinko, and they have been awesome, not one single complaint about them, but I dont track my bike, mostly canynon carving and city riding.

You can get Avon Storm II Ultra's in a 200/50 and 120/70 pair, and the Dunlop RoadSmarts both tires have gotten excellent reviews.

Being the guy that snareman is talking about, I have no faith in Shinko. Definitely the least sticky tire I have ran. If you shop around, you can get Pilots for the same price.

But really? The only thing keeping you on the ground is a contact patch as big as your foot that separates you from scraping across the pavement. Spend the extra 40 bucks and get a better tire. Cause even if you argue that Shinko is good, there are much better tires for nearly the same price if you shop around.

I like them [smirk], I am running them again, I have looked to find other brands of 200mm and never seen any close to the same price. But I will add I bought mine in the Spring of 2009 so almost 2 years ago.

I bought a set of shinko ravens at the end of the summer.I have been riding for 42yrs. I love the handling of my 2010 xb12scg and the shinkos ruined that. A rider with less experiance would have a hard time not crashing a sport bike with these tires on. IMO

I don't know about them. As for casual rider they're fine. And the price is unbeatable, couldn't find anything better for that price range. I run shinko ravens right now. The rear tire slipped on me few times in the turn but I saved it from dumping the bike. This never happened to me with the stocker dunlops I had before.

how about continental motion $140 set?...seems too cheap. i would stay with dunlop but for $275. is it that better of a tire?

I've said it before and I'll say it again. BT016's are your answer. Triple compound, track worthy, confidence inspiring and they aren't expensive. I got mine mounted for $280

PO put a shinko raven on the rear of my XB12Ss

When it wears out I'll definitely be replacing it with a Pirelli Angel or Dunlop Roadsmart.
The grip isn't very good in the rain and they feel pretty slippery until they've warmed up.

I'm just barely too cheap to just replace it right now.

the negative comments so far about the shinkos here are about the "lower" models.

Look at the Verge 011

stickier than my diablos on my xb12

and feel great on the GF's xb9r

yes i do have cheap tires on the rear of all my cars, they dont last long. the fronts are my grip so they are good.example i took out my cobra last night nailed it and lost grip ,i would have crashed if my bf goodrich comp t/a tires were not on the front.so i i hear ya...and i fixed too many macco jobs.
the problem is with the 200mm rear tire evey set i want is a cheaper tire except the dunlop sportmax that i dont care for the looks and the avon storm thats a bit too expencive. i guess i have to go to a 190 and either get the continental motion sports or road attacks or the mitchlin pilot powers.
id spend the extra for a set of perilli diablo rosso corsas if i could get it in a 200 ,but i cant seem to find the new style only the old ones that do not look as good.
