Hi,
Is it possible to change my long swingarm on my xb12ss for a shorter? And what do I need to change to do this? Shock, belt and more?
Anybody done this?
And why you ask:) yes I would like a lighter feeling front wheel.
Cheers
Matty

Might be easier to just put in the XB9 primary gearing? Just a thought...

Damn Sirius beat me to the trade. But if interested I have an 09 short arm, belt, etc with only 4800 miles to trade.

Things that are different from one to the other ...
-swing arm (duhh)
-shorter belt
-oil lines(don't know what year the SS is ....)
-have to expect issues with shock( will need shorter shock)

That what comes to mind real fast ....

Shock mount on the SS frame is lower and further back than the frame mount on a regular frame. The shock mount on a regular swing arm is a couple inches closer toward the frame then the SS swingarm mount. The result will be a much shorter distance between the mounts if you couple an SS frame and the shorter swing arm.

When I look at pictures of the shorter swingarm and compare to my ss long it looks like I would need a shock that is about 8-10 cm shorter, so i guess that it is not possible to have a shock that short?
Anybody know?
Thanks

I put the SS swing arm on my R/S frame and I had to get a bracket made to compensate for how much farther back the lower shock mount on the S swing arm is compared to the R/S swing arm.

So if you just bolted up the R/S swing arm to your SS shock and frame your shock would be laying on your frame since the lower shock mount on the short (R/S) swing arm is closer to the motor.

My guess to how you would do this is make a reverse shock bracket like i made to keep your shock away from your SS frame and so keep the swing arm at a stock level.

My shock bracket for SS swing arm on R/S frame.
