I installed the Yamaha tube on my race bike (xb12). Didn't make any mods other than I did not reconnect the return cable. The return cable is only a back up in the event your return spring snaps. In 34 years of riding it's never happened to me, but it could happen, so be warned. Throttle return is crisp and I can pin the throttle with one motion now vs two hand fills previously.
 
BUMP. I want to do this mod, but I too am curious why some people are saying you must mod the tube, and others are saying it's a bolt on affair.

If anyone knows, let us know :p

Edit: just re-read this thread and think I understand now. It looks like the r6s part is entirely bolt on with no modification, BUT it also won't make the throttle have a shorter twist.

It looks like if you want to get a shorter twist, you have to buy the r6 part (part # in this thread) and do the modification.
