On my bike (s3) it would be easier. You don't have to mess with the isolators. Cut belt (if it hadn't snapped) install sprockets and chain. But on an x1 or xb?
[confused]

Belt replacement is very simple on an XB if you follow the "proper" procedure. Can even be done roadside...

Here is where I got my belt (recommended by another forum member here): http://www.steelthundercc.com/reardrivebelts.html Best price.  Best quality (get the Gates brand!)

How do i know which belt on the site is for my bike? They are using different part nu,bers.

or you can buy my 04 belt coversion kit :D that i have listed on the OEM parts section! you should be good for another 60K miles if i am right!
BTW, my buell had 31K miles when i sold it and it was still running on original belt, no fraying or shredding, trust me i checked it every time i took it out to ride!

Gates part number M77538 under "1-1/8 inch Wide Belts for Sportster", "# of teeth" 128.

I broke three belts one on my XB9 and twice on my M2... But than again I RIDE the tires off of mine:p

I'm on my third one in 35K miles. First one went to 21,000 and a power downshift to first while coming to a red light while messing with my iPod. Second was an cheap belt that snapped on a wheelie attempt after about 10,000
