Yeah, you remove the shiny part of the pod and re-use the textured front part. They come apart pretty easy, use a hair dryer to soften it some and it pulls apart.
This one is turning into a major pita to get it exactly how I want it. Being off by 2-3 degrees on an angle gets it out of sync very quickly. It's pretty close though. I will probably NOT build another one like this, it's entirely too time consuming.
Not perfect, but pretty close I guess. End caps will get pushed in a little more and that will give me some wiggle room for moving the outlets around some. They're also tilted up a bit more than what the target outlets were originally.
Can't get pics of the whole thing in the garage as it sits, not enough room. Got a short vid though.
There will not be another made like this one. Entirely waaaaaaay too many hours getting it even remotely close to what I wanted. Audio isn't anywhere near close to what it sounds like, it's just like all the other RT-4's. Still needs to be riveted for the outlets and finish the bodywork (4 bolts/retainers) and an oil change to some Amsoil 20/50.
