So if you guys are familiar with your bikes, the little clips that hold the flared oil lines into the black fittings on the block, well that is what failed and let the line out. The dealership says they've seen this problem before, I think they just reused the clip after the engine was disassembled this past Sept. for the tranny rebuild.

bajabomber: Is that the oil line breather fitting? I am looking at my my parts manual and trying to find exactly what you are talking about so I can get a new one. I am planning to drop the engine and tranny soon to do some work and don't want that crap to happen to me. Thanks alot.

Look at the little metal clips in my first picture that hold the oil lines into the black fitting on the engine.

Glad you're ok. Looks like it's not a design flaw, just a symptom of someone reusing non-reusable parts.

Are you sure you didn't just press the spyhunter oil slick button by mistake?
