Hey crash I plan on it..... I put 3000 miles on my rebel in 6 months and I will be riding the buell to work ever day. Memorial Day weekend I plan on making run to Niagara Falls with a few of my buddies. I will also be running down to wildwood nj with it too

When taking off under 3k has no power so rev it to about 2500 then drop the clutch.
I talked to a USAF guy last week that sold his Buell to an AF friend. The ink wasn't dry yet when the buyer twisted the throttle a bit too much and flipped backwards...immediate bike repairs...OOPS!!!

Ok i really dont suggest doing that unless youre ok with damages or had experience with previous rides and can do with some relative skill. At that point you dont need a clutch at all, i can power wheelie from 3k easy

2500 you all say must be the magic number lol I've always just let off and rolled on. Welcome to the buell family. Chop that tail

Reading Pennsylvania well actually Leesport Pennsylvania its a little bit better then living in the city

Wtf is up with these low mileage motorcycles!?! Ride your machines people! Im at 18500 ish 10k of those are all me in the last year! Greasy plz run that number way up there

PSH my 03 firebolt is at 40,000 miles now and runs just fine!!!

When does it come time for a rebuild? Do you do the whole motor top to bottom? Or just hone and rings?

you can expect a well maintained, sanely ridden XB to go 80-100k miles with no major issues, but then shtuff happens, jugs, cams, oil pump gears lifters, pushrods, and a complete head job, may need bushings and bearings replaced in the cases, Might as well do tranny while you are there, in other words, a brand r new drivetrain, I've got 60k on my 08 Uly, replaced a rocker box gasket so far,

My Buell is the one bike I have that I won't part with for as long as I can. Mine is an '08 and has 16k or 17k miles.

I'm reading a thread on ADVrider discussing the Uly when I read this "I have to say, it is the most fin bike I have ever had, and even two-up, downshifts are rarely necessary. Its a torque monster, handles like a dream. Two nights ago, it was 35 degrees out, I was riding to a bible study class, and the moon was full, the stars were out, and as I was riding past the lake, I just started giggling. Yup, I was partially frozen, looking for deer, and at the same time giggling my arse off. Never had a bike do that to me in almost 40 years on em."

Like everyone said you will love the bike, it's easy to ride, and extremely fun.

Things to be aware of:

2003's had a couple issues. The drive belts are prone to breaking and the kick stands are prone to breaking. These can both be remedied by upgrading to the later style. There are a few other things that will probably give you trouble but these bikes are pretty reliable and maintenance free.

The drive belt was upgraded to a Kevlar belt but it is still the factory size so idk..... for the couple hundred bucks idk if its worth upgrading to the new style '04+ belt and pulleys......

I'll have to Google the kickstand issue and see if I can't fix it. I'm a supervisor in a welding Fab shop so I can make about anything......

You are gonna want the bigger belt, pushed mine almost 3 miles before my buddy got to me with a truck, it is one upgrade definitely worth the money

well i'm not sure if my buell has any of these mods done because i bought it second hand, but i have an '03 with 20k miles. Not a single kick stand problem OR belt problem. I think you really only have belt problems if you start wheelieing and driving like a 'tard ;)

Can you just put the pin in the kickstand? I'm seeing that the '03 needs a new "s plate" but no one has pictures of how or why.... and I'll be damned to pay $120 for the kit from asb

Buy a kickstand off a later model and then drill it and put the pin in it. You will also have to bypass the kickstand switch. The pin costs like $11 from HD and you can probably get a used kickstand relatively cheap.
