Ha Ha! No, seriously, I just took the wife out for her first real ride tonight ( on the bike ) and niether of us could seem to get comfortable ( on the bike ). What works out for you guys the best with a passenger?

I know , I know, someone will suggest gettin her a bike of her own, But honestly she scares the **** straight out of me in a car (and thats not easy to do BTW). All over the damn road so - my wife+her own bike=BAD IDEA!

When BuellChick use to ride on the back of my bike she always tried to brace herself using her hands on the tank, I hated it.

When she did it I couldnt really even tell if she was on the back so it actually made cornering harder since she always seemed to shift her weight around. Finally I got her to just lean against me and let me hold her up using my arms through the bars. It was better for control for myself and more comfortable for the both of us as she had to use less effort and I knew where to turn and lean the bike.

So I would just suggest the basic wrap her arms around you and let you do the driving and her the riding[up]

or you could get one of these.

If you have a girl thats fearless and stays still she won't slow you down at all.

^This. I tell everyone that rides with me to grab onto me and just relax. Don't try to lean or brace yourself. It's just easier for me to manage the bike when I do feel that extra weight on me.

I'd get thrown off my line when girls try to lean and **** so no more.

My girl is pretty good at sticking close, the only issue is braking, smacking helmets and all. Sometimes when she gets too comfy I worry that she's not there so I tell her I want to know your holding on.

Try one of these - I promise she'll find the best position...http://www.viberider.com/

Lol.

I let her ride hands on side but weight off of me and during braking she typically puts her hands towards the bottom of my back... in slow in town traffic she just sits up hand holding on to the seat

Looks like there's no clear cut solution, I think we just need some more miles to figure it out. Thanks for the ideas guys!

That's good stuff right there! LOL:D

12rdan, one thing I have found over the years is, when turning right, have them look over your right shoulder and look over your left when turning left.I don't know why, but it seems to make the passenger more comfortable in a turn.As for stopping my wife would hold on to the grab rail or under the back of the seat with one hand and the other on the small of my back. That way I knew she was there, but she wasn't slamming into me.She also grips with her knees(yes I am still talking about riding the bike).Hope this helps some

Bracing on the tank helps a ton . Which modle do you have? The firebolt 1125 double seats are a ton better than the lightening single.
My gf and I can ride 2 up for 2-300 miles without two much pain but we both have thick touring type seats

I have an 04'12R with stock seats. We are both fairly small ppl, so the seats weren't much trouble for us. The outbound trip seemed better with more upright position and her leanin on me a little. Rode most of the way home tucked and we were constantly shifting around trying to get comf. but never could.
