My father in law once told me, "if it floats, flys, or fucks, rent it" LOL
Yup, I usually get out in a boat 3-5 times a season, but I boat in the summer like I snowmobile in the winter: I rent!

As they say, the second happiest day of your life is the day you buy a boat. The happiest day of your life is the day you sell it! :D

Walked around in one of those Chris craft at the Tampa Bay boat show. It was beautiful but too nice for me. I like to do watersports, fish, camp, and just cruise. Couldn't imagine pulling a big bloody fish or cutting up bait in that one.

i love boating.... have done it mostly my entire life. Parents had a 16ft bow rider when i was born. Then upgraded to a 20ft, then a 24ft cabin cruiser, then a 25ft, and then a 34ft.....

34 ft pictured here. Bought brand new in '86 and sold it in '98. Got out of boating for a while.

Spent most of the time at the Cape / Block Island / Nantucket / Marthas Vineyard / Montauk

Now that I have small kids, im getting back into it-
Have a 18ft bow rider at the moment

I would, hell if I could afford one of those, id be able to pay somebody to clean the damn thing :p

@ pur pony that's a pretty sweet cruiser. huge boat compared to what we see in this area unless you head down to the Ozarks. looks like a nice little bow rider, sea ray right?

ThoughtI'd bring up this old dead thread.... Boating season is over for me so now the day dreaming about boating begins. So any new boat owners on the forum???

We sold our bowrider this year and bought a cruiser, so far its a really fun boat!!

Darn right Tone!! Its got a 5.7L v-8, top speed of 40mph, 70 gallon fuel tank, 2 queen size sleeping areas, flushing toilet, alcohol/electric stove, transom shower and one in the head, 2 sinks and I'm in it for half its book value :eagerness: This thing gets a ton of looks around here, not very many cabin cruisers on the missouri river (especially in Nebraska CIty there are some around omaha). It even gets looks at the gas station, ofcourse it is bigger than my truck!

Its great because my kids (3 and 7) can go hang out down in the cabin if they're bored of boating and play their video games and let me and the wife relax, have a drink, and float down the river. Never thought I'd want one like this, but as of right now i wouldnt go back!

BuellyBagger that is awesome! the kids must love it what a brilliant childhood memory that will be for them! I am not a major boat person but that could change my mind! and i have always loved boat power the way they squat at the back, lift at the front and leave that amazing looking wake! (if thats what its called!) Has it got that big V8 sound? and how can that place not be glamorous it looks pretty bloody good to me mate i love it!! :eagerness:

Has it got that big V8 sound?
you get just little V8 rumble from it at wide open. There is a guy that runs the local machine shop that has a 36ft fountain with 3 500hp big blocks, i can here him coming up river behind me even when mine is running!! now his boat, SOUNDS AMAZING!

I know there's a ton of different boat manufacturers in North America, but guess I've never researched if there's many major European boat builders... Tone, Any production boat manufacturers in the UK??

Those jet boats look like they'd be super fun chicago!!
My eyeball was twitching after every run out on the lake over every little scratch and mare.
I am little like that (was worse with the bow rider) its not a bad trait for a boat owner, in moderation, being super picky and taking care of your boat means your investment wont go to crap and occasionally you can even improve the boat over the years and make some money on it.

Buelly i wish i could answer that question about boat makers in the UK but unfortunately i have no knowledge of that as i have never really thought about it but who knows what you have started now!! lol and that other boat sounds like a James Bond type boat! all the fish must be deaf now! lol Your boat would be so much nicer to live with though, much more usable i think!

Although not nearly as nice as most the boats above my little boat gets me into all kinds of great camping spots and is perfect for bow fishing.
