to start off I know my bike is dirty, the noise varies with how loud it is from start to start, any help is appreciated though. I'm planning on tearing into it sometime in the next couple of days.

I hear a whining on decel... odds are your primary is too tight.. you may have drive sprocket/hub issues.. check crank nut torque and for any spline slop, if left loose it will eat your splines away.. if thats all okay, you may have a collapsed lifter.. or worst case, the big end rod bearing going bad.. there was a bad batch in late 06 into 07, mostly on ulys

I'm thinking bearing, and the whine was me, accidentally left it a little too tight when I was fiddling with it

well as of tonight this is how she sits til I can tear it down further, I'm workin on the forks while it's dark and since the weather is supposed to be nice til friday I'm gonna work on it after work til then lol

pull the clutch in see if the noise changes.......put a screw driver up aroud the case and see if you can pin point the noise to a certain area......or better still take the casing off and check it out.....could be part of the casting from the primary is cracked an touching the clutch basket......just a thought....cheers

I'm on my way there, I'm taking everything off to clean/paint and replace what needs replaced. I figured while it's down I might as well take it all the way down again and get things done that I wanted to do over winter and didn't get a chance to.
